Get ready to unleash your inner fashionista and strut down Garousu-gil like a boss. This tree-lined street is well-known in the social media sphere as the place to shop, eat, and of course, take OOTD photos. Pose along the pavement to immortalise the street’s small-town European charm, or pop into one of the many cafés lining the street for a quick bite and an elevated view of the scenery. Also, the season in which you visit (summer or winter) can affect the feel of your photos, so plan and pack your outfits accordingly!

Here’s a tip: There’s going to be quite a bit of walking, so you’d want to pack comfortable shoes for this.

Bukchon Hanok Village is where you’d need to be if you want to truly immerse yourself in the Korean culture. The word hanok refers to the many traditional houses dating back to the Joseon dynasty that make up the village. These hanoks are not only photogenic, but also serve as cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants, and tea houses. While you’re busy snapping pictures in a hanbok on-site, don’t forget to check out the local boutiques selling Korean traditional crafts and trinkets.

Travel back in time to the 1980s when you visit Yongma Land. This abandoned theme park ceased operations in 2011, but has been open since then to visitors for a small price of 5,000 Korean won. You can dress up in retro outfits to match the appearance of the rides, or go bold with modern looks that really highlight the difference in time. Stay in the park till the sun goes down to capture whimsical shots in front of the carousel. Better yet, place your camera behind the puddle specially positioned near the carousel to achieve that coveted reflection shot.

Go palace-hopping and pop by Changdeokgung Palace after your visit to Gyeongbokgung. The Changdeokgung Palace has been recognised as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997 due to its history as the place of residence for kings of the Joseon dynasty. There are many photogenic areas within the palace grounds, one of which is the rear garden, boasting a large 300-year-old tree, a pond, and a pavilion that will transport you back to the 1400s.

Whether you’re craving for freshly wrapped kimbap or piping hot tteokbokki, you should definitely pay Gwangjang Market a visit. The rustic interior of the market and smiling faces of ajumma screams authentic Korean experience and rightfully so, seeing that this market has been around for over 100 years. After tucking into delicious (and Instagrammable!) Korean food, head up to the second floor where silk, satin, and linen awaits.

#bukhansannationalpark #hiking #seoul #mountains #instagram #inspiration #instatravel #passport #feelingood

A post shared by Jenny Le (@lepumy) on

Look good, feel good… or is it the other way round? Combine the two by doing a photo shoot on a hike up Bukhansan National Park. This location is popular amongst locals and tourists alike, as its scenic gorges and granite peaks make for a breathtaking view (and backdrop!) If you’re feeling adventurous, try hiking the Bukhansanseong Course to reach Baegundae Peak. This 3.4km route would require around two hours to complete, but the reward of seeing the view from atop the peak? Priceless.

Can’t get enough of the greens? Seoul Forest Park might just be the place for you to get your fix. Divided into four sections reminiscent of the Hangang Park, the park consists of four parts, Culture & Art Park, Educational Experience Park, Eco-forest Park, and Riverside Park along Hangang River. The volunteer-run Seoul Forest Park has some of the most gorgeous flower patches that come in lots of shapes and sizes, so there is a high chance you can find a flower that matches your outfit.
