Gone are the days where we could attend world-tour concerts of our favourite artistes and have gatherings (of more than five!) with old classmates. As the second phase of post-circuit breaker measures kicks in, we might all be getting a little bored of our regular safe after-work activities!
AVENUE ONE has rounded up some fresh ideas – that aren’t just board games or typical movie-dates – to keep you looking forward to the weekend, and hopefully drive these Monday-blues away!
Read on to explore some meaningful indoor entertainment for you homebodies reluctant to step out of your cosy cocoons! As well as some (non-crowded) activities that you can now enjoy outside!
1. Let’s Get This Bread
Ever since these cute little loafs took the internet by storm back in 2016, it seems we’ve never been able to settle for anything less.
If you weren’t part of the gang of circuit bakers when most of Singapore was in quarantine, it’s not too late to start now!
Tokyo-based food artist, Ran, is the brilliant creator behind these ingenious designs you’ve been seeing all over Instagram, with her most recent ventures being these pull-apart creations.
Termed “Muscle Rabbit Bread” by the artiste herself, these adorable baked goods could make the sweetest treat for your afternoon tea, and as its name suggests, will most definitely pack a punch (of fun) too!
These fluffy buns have been trending all over on Instagram and it’s not hard to tell why! With just six basic ingredients needed for the dough, we’d bet they’ll be a great way to spend your weekend!
Here’s a step-by-step guide on recreating them.
While you’re at that, check out Ran’s very own tutorial on these illusive rice cakes. Or peek these other ways to create hearty carb-laden bites.

3. More Than Just a Meal with Sakae

In just a few easy steps, you can help provide meal assistance to seniors or low-income families/individuals to help eradicate food insecurity, all while tucking in to a delicious meal yourself! Simply purchase a “Gift a Meal” e-voucher through Shopee Singapore or Sakae Sushi to redeem a Terriyaki Chicken Donburi/Salad for your own consumption. With each meal purchased, Sakae will be gifting a meal to another individual from THK Family Service Centre.
