To say Shake Shack is unstoppable would be an accurate statement; shortly after debuting its sixth outlet at Great World City just a few months ago in April, the cult-favourite burger chain is now back to spread joy through its quality burgers at one of the most famous gardens in Singapore, if not the world.
This time, Shake Shack’s seventh outlet resides within Gardens by the Bay near the entrance of Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, and in celebration of the new store, Shake Shack is releasing a new limited-time menu when the outlet officially opens on 28 August 2021.
To give you a sneak peek ahead of the official opening, AVENUE ONE headed down to Shake Shack at Gardens by the Bay earlier this afternoon to check out the special menu. Read on to find out what we think of the celebratory menu, and what’s new at the latest location!
Shake Shack celebrates the opening of its seventh outlet with a Roasted Garlic Mushroom menu
Launching on the same day as the opening, the all-new Roasted Garlic Mushroom menu features two limited-edition items topped with a made-from-scratch creamy, roasted garlic mayo: Roasted Garlic Mushroom Burger and Roaster Garlic Fries.
Inspired by the bold flavours of a classic New York steakhouse, the Roasted Garlic Mushroom Burger is a provolone cheeseburger made with hormone-free Angus beef and topped with sauteed portobello mushrooms caramelised in butter, crispy fried shallots, and tangy roasted garlic mayo.
While the tender, juicy burger patty reminded us almost of a decadent steakhouse dinner, the flavours of the burger were, by and large, rich and savoury but, unfortunately, fell a little short for us.
The umami taste of the beef patty, the tangy garlic mayo sauce, and the sharp onion flavour from the fried shallots were all overpowered by the sauteed portobello mushroom slices and the smoky provolone cheese in the burger stack, which was such a shame especially since we’ve come to appreciate great-tasting burgers that have a balanced flavour profile from Shake Shack.
The roasted garlic mayo sauce couldn’t shine in the burger, but boy did it stand out in the crinkle-cut fries.
To complement the loaded burger, the Roasted Garlic Fries are slathered with the same roasted garlic mayo, parmesan, and a sprinkle of fresh scallions – perfect for days when you want something more interesting than classic regular fries but not too overwhelmingly rich like the typical cheese fries.
As the tangy sauce is drizzled on top, heed our advice and mix it up first before digging in so that you get a little bit of the sauce with every piece of French fry.
As mentioned, this limited-time menu is available at the Gardens by the Bay outlet beginning 28 August until 15 October 2021. Make sure you and your buddies or loved ones are fully vaccinated before you head over to dine in! Otherwise, you can enjoy it via takeaway too.
That’s not all, the Roasted Garlic Mushroom menu will also be debut at Shake Shack outlets island-wide from 3 September and will be available for the same duration as well, so you don’t necessarily have to make your way to Gardens by the Bay just to enjoy the limited-time offerings – though we highly encourage you to because the new Insta-friendly location is totally worth checking out!
Try new special Concretes at Shake Shack’s Gardens by the Bay outlet
No Shake Shack meal is complete with its signature desserts, right? So after savouring the Roasted Garlic Mushroom Burger and Roasted Garlic Fries, be sure to round out your meal with two outlet-exclusive Concretes that are inspired by waterfront gardens and plants from around the world.
Berries by the Bay has a vanilla custard base blended with forest berries jam and shortbread, topped with fresh blueberries and dried osmanthus flowers.
Crunchy shortbread, as well as juicy and slightly sourish blueberries, juxtaposed nicely with the smooth vanilla custard that we have come to know and love, giving the dessert an added depth of flavour. If you have a penchant for tart berries, this is certainly a dessert made especially for you.
But if blueberries aren’t exactly your cup of tea, this tropical-inspired treat may just do the trick. Tropic Like It’s Hot is a refreshing delight after a sunny day out with its combination of vanilla custard, mango, passionfruit, and shortbread that’s finished with mango chunks.
Just like how passionfruit and mango always make the perfect smoothie couple, these fruits go along well as a creamy ice-cold dessert too.
The tanginess from the passionfruit played fabulously well with the mango’s sweet floral aroma while cutting through the rich sweetness of Shake Shack’s signature vanilla custard, so our taste buds didn’t get too overwhelmed. If you’ve been spending time enjoying nature out at the Gardens by the Bay, you should definitely order this to beat the beat!
Of course, there’s also the signature Shack Attack Concrete on the menu here as well. In line with Shake Shack’s ‘Stand For Something Good’ mission, 5% of sales from Shack Attack at the Gardens by the Bay outlet will be donated to Singapore Environment Council, a non-profit organisation dedicated to sustainability issues and environmental efforts in Singapore.
Shake Shack Gardens by the Bay looks like a beautiful garden with plants and foliage all around the store
An ode to the enormous tropical garden it sits in, the seventh outlet is a feast for the senses with an inviting atmosphere that’s shaped with florals and foliage – all curated by none other than the horticulturists behind Gardens by the Bay!
Seamlessly weaving together the interiors of Shake Shack and tropical outdoor landscapes of Gardens by the Bay, your experience begins with rich and bright bromeliads blooming along the main and front entrance while bedded and hanging foliage provide a lush setting for the outdoor seating.
Inside the charming outlet, spot coral bells and home-grown calla lilies with curtains of amaranthus and asparagus ferns framing different design elements. At the heart of the floating landscape is an eye-catching floral chandelier in the centre of the store with a cheerful display of bright green ferns, red canary grass, dried palm caps in warm colour tones, and dried gold-coloured palm inflorescences.
Shake Shack teams up with Singaporean artist soph O for the latest outlet in Gardens by the Bay
To complement its nature-inspired decor and good vibes that we have all come to expect from Shake Shack, the burger chain has partnered with local artist soph O’s to create a vivid mural inspired by the similarities between undulating terrains and varying plant patterns at the Flower Dome.
Working across a range of forms, materials, and processes, soph O’s art is said to represent the interconnectivity of our community and a system of complex perspectives. With a blend of sorbet shades and pops of jewel tones, the inside and outside murals evoke an uplifting mood, like that of endless summers and everlasting blooms at Gardens by the Bay while encapsulating the warmth of every Shake Shack experience.
Shake Shack Gardens by the Bay officially opens on 28 August 2021 from 11am to 8pm on Mondays through Sundays and from 10am to 9pm on Fridays through Sundays. On grand opening day (28 August), it will be opened from 11am to 9pm. It is located at 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Gardens by the Bay, #03- 02/03, Singapore 018953.
