Now that most flight routes have opened up and travel plans are back in motion again, I was ready for an overseas trip. In fact, I’ve already booked tickets for South Korea next year – but it feels like it’ll still be a long time before I fly.
As a way to enjoy a Korean-themed getaway without actually flying, I took up Quincy Hotel Singapore’s all-new Qool Weekend Package.
The experience includes an activity-packed three-day and two-night stay that’s completely inspired by the everything South Korea. Read on to find out how it went for me.
Quincy Hotel Singapore Qool Weekend package review
My staycation started on Friday afternoon. I reached the boutique hotel and was brought through an efficient and seamless check-in process.
I was welcomed with a bag of Korean snacks and drinks, which I thought was a perfect reminder of what this weekend would be all about.
The Deluxe room I was had a view of Orchard Road and a bathtub. Tastefully furnished, it was absolutely comfortable and I knew I was going to have a relaxing weekend.
I took Day 1 easy, by spending time watching shows – K-drama, of course, while snacking on the Korean treats I was given. Then, I headed out for a Korean BBQ dinner nearby, just to set the tone of this getaway. As Quincy Hotel Singapore is located in the slightly quieter side of Orchard Road, it provided me with serenity without compromising on convenience – everything I needed was practically a stone’s throw away!
Quincy Hotel Singapore had partnered Walking on Sunshine, a Korean hair salon in Orchard Central to offer a Wash & Blow Dry session for both hotel guests, as part of the Qool Weekend Package.
On Day 2, after a sumptuous breakfast of Eggs Benedict at the hotel, I took a leisurely walk to the mall for my hair appointment. (Psst, by the way, Quincy serves breakfast from 7am to 3pm daily, which means you’ll never have to force yourself to wake up early for breakfast while on a staycation!)
The salon has an urban garden theme, which was very Instagram-worthy. The service was also impeccable; I was served a beverage from the salon’s menu, and had a pampering time as I received a relaxing wash, coupled with a head massage, before my hair was given the royal treatment and was styled beautifully by the stylist.
Even my husband, who was with me and has very short hair, was given a stylish look he hadn’t tried before.
Thereafter, we walked to the Washing on Sunshine cafe for lunch. The special Quincy set menu included several Korean-Western dishes and we went for the Butter Garlic Prawn Pizza and Kroffle with Ice Cream.
Another activity that was part of the package was a photo session at Photoholic, a self-photo studio located at Orchard Gateway – right next to Orchard Central.
For the uninitiated, self-photo studios are one of hottest Korean trends that has come to Singapore. The studio provides you with the backdrop, camera, and lighting, as well as a remote control, and within a stipulated time, you can snap as many photos as you want by yourself.
I was ready to flaunt my new hair and headed to the photo studio after lunch. The session was super fun and I was given two 4R photo prints, as well as digital copies of the photos I’ve picked.
That night, we were treated to a Chi-maek (Korean for fried chicken and beer) dinner at The Lawn, Quincy’s iconic outdoor space that’s decorated by gorgeous fairy light. Besides Korean fried chicken and Hite beer, the dinner also included kimchi pancake.
As we were famished, we also asked for canapes; Quincy serves signature cocktails and a rotating menu of canapes every day from 6pm to 8pm to all guests without any additional cost.
On Sunday, which was the last day of our staycation, we spent some time putting on matching Hanbok outfits that were placed in our room’s wardrobe. While we could take photos in these outfits anywhere in the hotel, we decided to do a simple shoot within the room to commemorate the stay.
I checked out, having enjoyed myself and fully rested – all ready to head back to the office the next day.
I’d recommend the Qool Weekend Package to couples who are looking forward to a fun staycation with activities so you don’t have to rack your brains to plan.
The experiences were all very memorable, and I particularly enjoyed the Chi-Maek dinner at The Lawn because the ambience was extremely romantic. My husband and I had a very long chat over dinner; something that we hadn’t been able to do because we had been busy with the children and work. I also appreciated that a hairstyling session was part of the package, which allowed me to look my best at the self-photo session – I wouldn’t want to bring along my hair tools to style myself on a staycation!
