Perched on a ridge in northern Thailand overlooking the border with Myanmar and Laos, Anantara Golden Triangle is a luxury hotel that is particularly famous for being one of the best places to play and bond with elephants, thanks to its mahout camp that treats elephants with the utmost care and respect.
Most elephant sanctuaries do not offer or condone activities such as elephant-riding or elephant performances, as these are typically made possible only through torturing the wild creatures into submission.
Anantara Golden Triangle wanted to encourage visitors to get up close and discover elephants without putting the latter through unnecessary stress. Hence, they have created a unique and safe experience called the Jungle Bubbles, where guests can live with the animals for a night.
These unique Jungle Bubbles are perched on a wooden deck above the forest, and come fully furnished and transparent, so you can observe the gentle giants from every corner of the bubble as well as look up at the starlight skin from above.
Each bubble comes with air-conditioning and is equipped with a spacious bedroom and living space, complete with a king bed and seating area under a transparent roof, with your enclosed, nontransparent en-suite bathroom on hand.
You’ll also get the usual room necessities, including bathrobes and slippers, crisp white bed linen, and exquisite bathroom amenities. Ther is access to a delectable dinner basket, a fully stocked mini-bar, 24-hour in-room dining service, as well as tea and coffee making facilities to make your stay with the elephants a comfortable one.
This experience is currently available as an optional activity in Anantara Golden Triangle – you can spend the night from dusk till dawn, then return to the hotel in the morning. Rates start from THB17,700 (SGD784.30) for 2 people.
