Humble House Taipei review: a hotel with a magnificent view of Taipei 101

The most iconic landmark in Taipei has to be the Taipei 101. It was the world’s tallest building until Burj Khalifa in Dubai was completed in 2009. While it has been relegated to second place in terms of height, it still remains an important symbol of modern Taiwan. And most impressively, the annual fireworks display at the Taipei 101 during the New Year countdown is so magnificent, it makes Taipei one of the most exciting places to spend the New Year at.

Humble House Taipei

If you are visiting Taipei and would like to stay in a hotel that features a view of the Taipei 101, there are a few to choose from. I stayed at the Humble House Taipei for two nights during my last visit to Taiwan. Don’t be mistaken by its name – this hotel is anything but “humble”. One of the most luxurious hotels in Taipei, it is also home to several artistic works by international artists and has a sophisticated and modern interior design.

The hotel has 235 rooms, but not all of them offer a view of the Taipei 101. You would have to pick at least a Grand Deluxe Room and above for an unobstructed view of the iconic building. Tastefully designed, the Grand Deluxe Room was spacious without losing a sense of cosiness.

While you’re a guest at Humble House, make plans for dinner at La Farfalla, which is touted one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. You have to make a reservation; it is unlikely that you will be able to get a table simply by walking in, given its popularity, especially over the weekend.

Bring your swimwear along too – Humble House has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool where you can swim against the backdrop of Taipei 101. However, the swimming pool is closed during winter.
