Sure, you can get your hands on a Bicentennial commemorative medallion or the NDP Fun Pack as a memorabilia for Singapore’s 54th birthday. But here’s something more chic and practical: a special timepiece based on G-Shock’s iconic GX-56BB model, featuring a design by local street artist Sam Lo.
Sam Lo (or SKL0) is probably best remembered as the “Sticker Lady”, a nickname given to her from the sagas that arose from her work in the streets. What you may not know is that the artist is also the founder of artist management and creative consultancy Project XIV and was responsible for several art installations including the Keepers Playground of Infinite Happiness at the National Design Centre, Block Party and Playcourt installations.
This limited edition G-Shock timepiece features a band custom designed by Sam Lo in a spectrum of vivid colours inspired by Singapore’s melting pot of cultures. Elements that reflect the values Singapore stood for: security, steeped in heritage, strong and stable economy are also reflected in the watch.
The G-Shock x SKL0 timepiece will come in a special packaging that features a line from the classic Singapore National Day Parade (NDP) theme song “We Are Singapore”. Retailing at SGD299, it will be available at all G-SHOCK Boutiques (except IMM) from 27 July 2019. It is limited to only 300 pieces and is exclusively available in Singapore.
