Who doesn’t love a good gourmet burger every once in a while?
(We can’t be friends if you don’t, sorry!)
And by gourmet, we mean burgers that have full-fledged thick, juicy meat patties with customised sauce created by the chef that you generally can’t find from your standard fast food restaurants.
Thankfully for you and your wallet, there are several cafes, restaurants and even hawker stalls you and your pals could hit up that go on the cheap. Here’re 9 places to get gourmet burgers under SGD8.
1. The Humble Burger
Forget McDonald’s super overrated Nasi Lemak Burger – this humble hawker store has a Chicken Rice Burger (SGD5.50) for you to show off on the ‘gram!
With the rice serving as the ‘buns’ of the burger, the rice ‘buns’, according to a reviewer, are “so tasty they can be eaten on [its] own”, almost an echo to the late Anthony Bourdain’s comment on Singapore’s chicken rice.
For more Singaporean-Western fusion burgers, another must-try would be their Sio Bak Burger (SGD5.50), which is well, literally crispy roast pork belly topped with a dollop of mustard, and sandwiched in between two soft buns.
A stickler for traditional Western burgers? Check out their Stack Burger (SGD7), your classic beef patty burger topped with a giant Portobello mushroom and caramelised onions, and their Fish Burger (SGD4), which is exactly what you’d expect from a fish burger – perfectly golden fried fish topped with fresh coleslaw and parmesan cheese.

It is topped with maple syrup, mixed with BBQ sauce, for a truly indulgent mouthful.
Wanna go classic? Go for their King Delish (SGD4.50), a classic beef burger served with lettuce, tomatoes, and a side of fries.
P.S. Not burger-related, but I Love Burger Lah! has a pretty decent assortment of fries like Chili Chocolate Fries (SGD4), Salted Butterscotch Fries (SGD4), and Salted Caramel Fries with Pink Himalayan Salt (SGD4) that you can show off on your IG Story.
Hungry for more? Check out the butterscotch drizzle on top of the fries.
