As a parent of a curious and energetic six-year-old, I’ve been on the lookout for a smart device that strikes the right balance between freedom and safety.

The imoo Watch Phone X10 seemed to tick many of the right boxes; and after trying it out for a few weeks during holidays, playdates, and daily life, I can confidently say it’s given both my child and me a newfound sense of ease.
Designed for Kids Who Play Hard

There’s a rugged, sporty vibe to the imoo Watch Phone X10 that my son immediately took to. Built to endure the inevitable bumps and splashes of a kid’s life, it’s clear this watch was designed with real children in mind.

The adjustable strap fits his small wrist comfortably thanks to the multiple holes, and he’s never once complained about wearing it – a small but significant parenting win. Its adjustability also mean that it will be a device that can grow with him through the next few years, without worry of changing to a strap that fits him better.
The 1.6” OLED screen is bright, sharp, and responsive, making it easy for him to use it without straining his eyes.

The device is waterproof, which takes away a lot of worry if he were to wear it into the shower by accident or to use it while at the pool or beach.

In fact, he enjoys wearing it during his swims to help track his performance and take photos while he’s playing in the water.
Touchscreen sensitivity holds up well in those everyday scenarios, which is a thoughtful detail that’s often overlooked in children’s wearables. It is still sensitive even when his hands are wet from playing at the pool or washing up after lunch.
Keeping Communication Easy & Open
The video and voice call quality has consistently been excellent; clear, crisp, and fast.
It gave me peace of mind when my son was off exploring with other trusted adults at holidays or weekend playdates, as I could check in with a quick call or message and know he was safe.

Similarly, during full-day holiday camps or weekend classes, the imoo Watch Phone X10 gave us a line of communication to each other without giving him a phone.
When it was time for lunch or dismissal, I could easily check in on him or coordinate with him for pickup.
My son especially love the chat function.

And when he was feeling joyful, he’d spontaneously send voice notes or cheerful messages filled with animated stickers, which make communication playful and age-appropriate.
Personally, I enjoy receiving these messages from him, allowing me to show love and care to him or get an insight into how his day was going effortlessly.
Navigation Takes Practice – But It Grows on You
Initial setup and navigation weren’t immediately intuitive – I’ll admit we needed a little time to get familiar with the interface.
But once we figured out the basics, it became smoother. imoo’s ecosystem clearly prioritises child-friendliness over complexity, so it’s not overwhelming for a first-time user. The messaging interface, for example, is simple, and sending quick replies or voice messages is very accessible for kids.
Flip & Detach Camera – Cool Idea, But Younger Kids May Struggle

The dual camera system is one of the standout features of the imoo Watch Phone X10. It allows kids to take photos with both front and rear lenses, and the detachable design encourages creative angles and exploration, as well as for them to easily show parents their surroundings during a video call, if needed.
That said, at six years old, my son still finds detaching and flipping the watch face a bit tricky to do on his own. However, it’s a feature I suspect he’ll grow into with time, and older kids will likely enjoy it more fully.

For now, he mostly sticks to the standard front camera for selfies and quick snapshots, but is excited to use the detach function to take photos of his surroundings or his brother when we are with him.
GPS Tracking and Other Fitness Monitoring

The real-time GPS tracking is a great feature that gives peace of mind. Besides showing where he has been, the feature tracks up to the floor he’s on – a unique feature that I’m sure most parents will appreciate.

On top of this, the device also tracks his fitness and mood, which helps me keep an eye on his health and wellness too.
Final Thoughts: A Gentle Tech Introduction

What I’ve come to appreciate most is how the imoo Watch Phone X10 introduces technology in a healthy, age-appropriate way. It doesn’t turn kids into passive screen zombies. Instead, it gives them tools to communicate, express themselves, and build confidence while still allowing parents to guide the experience. It’s a safe, controlled gateway into the digital world – one where I can still set boundaries and keep an eye on things via the parent app.
As parents, we know how challenging it is to manage screen time and encourage balanced digital habits, so I’m glad that this device is clearly not about entertainment or endless content – it’s about connection, communication, and child safety.
If you’re looking for a first communication device that also serves as a location tracker for your child that’s both fun and functional, the imoo Watch Phone X10 is worth considering. Just be ready to help them through the learning curve – and watch them grow more confident each day.
The imoo Watch Phone X10 retails for S$499 and is available in three colours: white, pink, and grey. Get it on the imoo website.
