What does $100,000 buy you for four weeks after childbirth?
At DeRAMA Confinement Centre, it buys you something many new mothers crave but rarely get: uninterrupted rest, medical-grade baby care, and a fully supported recovery — wrapped in hotel-level luxury.
I didn’t stay in a confinement centre when I had my two children. I did it the traditional way: at home, with a confinement nanny. But after visiting Korean confinement centre DeRAMA and experiencing some of their signature treatments and meals firsthand, I can see why, for those who can afford it, this setup can be a game-changer.
The Concept: A Medicalised, Hotel-Style Postpartum Retreat
Confinement centres aren’t new in Asia. But DeRAMA elevates the idea into something closer to a private postpartum retreat.
Instead of going home to juggle visitors, household noise, and the uncertainties of nanny care, mothers check into a private suite for four weeks. Here, recovery is treated as seriously as pregnancy itself, with registered nurses on duty, structured feeding support, curated nutrition plans, and professional therapies to help the body heal.
The philosophy is simple: if you recover well, everything else — physically and emotionally — follows.
Every mum also receives a beautifully curated goodie bag filled with premium skincare and baby care products for both mum and baby. It’s a thoughtful touch, but also practical: postpartum skin is sensitive, and newborn skin needs the gentlest care.
It is no wonder DeRAMA is the confinement partner of choice for many Korean celebrities.
Privacy, Serenity, and Proper Rest

Housed within a hotel, the suites are exactly the same as luxury hotel rooms, but with postpartum functionality built in.

You get a spacious, private room with plush bedding, a serene and uncluttered environment, and controlled visitor access. If you opt for the garden suite, you’ll even get an outdoor area for some greenery and fresh air all to yourself.
Each bathroom is equipped with a special sitz bath setup for intimate recovery, which can help all new mothers heal faster.
Only one caregiver (such as your husband or a close family member) is allowed to stay with you. All other visitors must meet you at the lounge.
At first, that might sound restrictive. In reality, it protects your rest. One of the biggest challenges of doing confinement at home is the constant flow of visitors. Here, boundaries are built in and enforced for your wellbeing.
Baby Care by Registered Nurses — Not Just Tradition
This is, in my opinion, one of the biggest differentiators.
Your baby is cared for by registered nurses, not confinement nannies operating purely on tradition or old wives’ tales.
When I had my nanny, she once breathed out from her mouth directly onto my baby’s head to “stop hiccups.” I remember being shocked — it felt unhygienic and unnecessary.
I’ve also experienced nannies overfeeding babies to make them sleep longer, putting newborns to sleep on their tummy, and simply following outdated practices without medical backing. While most nannies are doing their best to help new mothers, the cultural differences can sometimes be stressful to manage, especially when you’re trying to focus on your own recovery and adapt to caring for a newborn.
At DeRAMA, everything is evidence-based. Feeding schedules, sleep positioning, hygiene protocols are all medically guided. That peace of mind alone is worth a lot, especially for first-time parents, as you won’t have to second-guess every decision, or be gaslight into surrendering your decision to someone else.
The Food: Hotel Collaboration, Thoughtfully Curated
Meals are created in collaboration with a hotel culinary team, and it shows.

I tried both dinner and breakfast during my visit; and dinner was especially memorable. It didn’t taste like “confinement food” in the traditional sense. It was refined, flavourful, and nourishing.

Between meals, snacks are also provided, which is such a practical detail. Breastfeeding mothers are constantly hungry, and having easy access to nourishing bites helps replenish energy without having to ask or wait.
The Pampering: Hair Washes, Massages, and RF Therapy

I tried two of their signature offerings:
- Postnatal hair wash: This is deeply relaxing, incredibly soothing (and such a treat when you’re sleep-deprived). And stepping out with perfectly soft hair makes me feel more confident, which is something new mothers will certainly appreciate
- Postnatal massage with RF therapy: Gentle yet effective, targeting fluid retention and muscle recovery. My therapist was able to target at my specific problem areas to relax every knot in my muscles.
If you sign up for the full 4-week stay, the inclusions are generous:
- 1 prenatal massage
- Signature hair wash sessions
- 4 full-body RF therapy sessions
- 3 partial RF therapy sessions
- Limo service for two outpatient appointments
Verdict?
Let’s be clear — S$100,000 is a significant investment.
But it’s a must-have for families who:
- Value privacy and medical care for their newborns
- Want to avoid the unpredictability of home-based nanny care
- Prioritise structured postpartum healing
- Can comfortably afford the experience
For families who want to experience DeRAMA at a smaller budget, other packages are available:
- 2-week package: Includes 1 limousine service for outpatient appointment, 1 Prenatal Massage, 1 Hair Shampoo Service, 2 Full-Body RF Therapy, 1 Partial RF Therapy

(S$100,000 for Garden Suite; S$70,000 for Suite)
As someone who did confinement the traditional way, I can genuinely see how this setup would have changed my postpartum experience, especially with my first child, when everything felt uncertain.
Is it extravagant? Yes.
Is it indulgent? Absolutely.
Is it thoughtful, structured, and deeply reassuring? Also yes.
And if you can afford it, that peace of mind is priceless.
