Japanese artist, Takahiro Shibata, first wowed the internet late last year with his extremely lifelike (albeit stomach-turning) masterpiece: a sponge cake that looked like a grimy dishwashing sponge.

This year it seems the animation and model artist gathered much inspiration from the oddity of 2020 and got to work in the middle of the global pandemic, producing this ramen mask that went viral.

Designed as a nod to the woes four-eyed individuals all around the world face with a mask on, this creative project centred around the idea of condensation from the hot breath fogging up glasses – just like how a piping hot bowl of ramen would.

While Takahiro’s products aren’t available in Singapore (as of yet, fingers crossed!), we’ve curated a list of funky masks that you might want to don for your next trip to the supermarket to change things up this season!
