I remember how as a student, a printer is one of the devices that was quite necessary in the house. But after I started working and eventually moved into my own house, my husband and I made the decision not to install one in our home because we find little use for it.
After all, everything is available readily on digital devices these days, and there’s very little need to “print out something for reference” anymore.
And then I got to know about the new Canon PIXMA TS5370, which was launched late last year.
An addition to the PIXMA range of all-in-one printers, this printer is available in trendy shades like Black, Millennial Pink, and Brilliant Green.
The review set that Canon loaned AVENUE ONE for a few weeks was in Brilliant Green. Seeing how vibrant and compact the product is, I can imagine it will sit perfectly in any modern study.
Printing is fun with the TS5370
The Canon TS5370 printer is compatible with interesting print surfaces such as photo paper, stickers, magnets, iron-ons, and even cotton-based fabric.
There were so many reasons to use the printer to print out magnets, stickers, and photos to decorate our office tables and homes.
The colours were incredibly vibrant and everyone in the AVENUE ONE team who tried printing with the Canon TS5370 was happy with the result.
I used the printer to produce a series of photos that I used for my son’s first birthday party. It has been a few months since his birthday celebration and the photos still looked as vibrant as before. They’re now put up in his room as decoration.
I was also very happy with the magnet printing. The vividness of the photos turned out as beautifully as they are on the photo paper. The magnetic photo paper that’s compatible with the printer can also be easily cut out into the shapes that you want.
This also means that you can create collages made up of several photos or images that you want and create all of them within one printing session. The printing setup was also seamless.
The wireless printing option is available, simply by downloading the Canon app (compatible with both iOS and Android OS) and pairing it with the printer. The interface was intuitive and it was easy to get everything set up within seconds.
If there are any complaints, it will be the printing speed. The Canon TS5370 prints a 4R Borderless photo at approximately 43 seconds, which I consider slightly long for the attention-deficient. I also find that it processes only two photos in one go, which means I had to wait for a while before I could print another two photos.
This means that if you are printing several photos in one go, you’ll probably be experiencing a bit of waiting time – so make sure that you do it when you have a lot of leisure time and something else to do while waiting.
However, it is not exactly a very huge issue for me, considering I probably won’t need to print a large batch of photos in one go very frequently.
I find that I usually go to the printer when I have just taken a really nice photo that I feel like printing out to put at my desk or to create a magnet for my fridge. The only exception was when I wanted to create the photo wall for my son’s birthday party, and wanted to print 12 photos in one go.
But if speed is a huge concern for you, the Canon PIXMA range comes with other more premium products such as the TS8370 and TS6370, which print at a faster speed (17 seconds and 21 seconds respectively for a 4R borderless photo).
Canon PIXMA TS5370 review: Conclusion
After trying out the Canon TS5370 for a few weeks, I’m changing my mind about not having a printer in the house.
I can imagine how fun this can be for families with young children to engage in scrapbook creation or making other trinkets as a fun weekend activity.This can also be useful for other creative pursuits that a modern home-owner or small business-owner may find useful.
This is especially since the Canon PIXMA TS5370 comes at such an affordable price: at just S$169, this is definitely a simple luxury that I don’t mind having.
