What happens when you combine a team of fitness enthusiasts with high-tech gym equipment and 15,000 square feet of space? The answer is the new TFX Fitness Club that has just opened at Funan mall! Managed by homegrown fitness brand True Group, TFX Funan offers the best of both worlds to its members: the flexibility and innovation of a boutique gym, enhanced by the use of technology-enabled training equipment to create a sustainable fitness ecosystem.
We took a tour around the brand-new premises of TFX Funan (which includes a rooftop swimming pool!) and we think that people of all ages, shapes, and sizes will be able to find something that works for them here.
Each piece of training equipment housed at TFX Funan has been specially selected by True Group to stay ‘true’ to their goal of providing you with the best workouts, equipment, and experiences under one roof. All equipment at the club are RFID-compatible, which means that you’ll be able to track your workouts in real-time using the Myzone MZ1 heart-rate monitor (complimentary upon membership sign up) or with your personal fitness tracker. We saw this in action as the staff members at the gym demonstrated how seamlessly the different technologies worked together to allow you to monitor your achievements and better track your fitness progression.
An interesting set of equipment that caught our attention was the Matrix Strength Ultra Series. The Intelligent Video Training Display on these machines offers you a virtual reality (VR) experience when you work out, such as showing moving landscapes that make you feel as though you are running in the Alps instead. The Matrix Strength treadmill also automatically adjusts its incline as the VR scenery changes to show steeper mountain passes, thus seamlessly incorporating resistance training into your otherwise mundane treadmill workout.
Besides the main workout space on both floors, TFX Funan also has studio spaces for spin and yoga classes. The spin studio comprises Life Fitness IC6 spinning bikes that are fitted with consoles that light up with colours corresponding to your workout intensity. This system promotes accountability to both yourself and the spin instructor, and at the same time, ensures the safety of participants of the class.
TFX Funan offers three types of classes:
- ATHLETICX (elevates heart rate and maximises calorific output)
- METCONX (builds functional strength, develops muscular endurance, and optimises lean muscle), and
- STRONGX (develops power and improves athletic performance).
Besides the small group training classes listed above, regular classes such as spinning, yoga, bodycombat, and pilates are also available for members.
We tried out their introductory yoga class during the launch event and was pleasantly surprised by the level of support given by the instructor throughout the class. The comfortable class size constituted a positive experience that makes us want to go right back to TFX!
