Reebok’s iconic Instapump Fury has been a canvas for numerous pop culture collaborations – remember their adorable Toy Story 4 collection? In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the InstaPump Fury OG sneakers, Reebok is gearing up for a worldwide release of two distinctive themes based on these adorable Japanese pop culture standouts.
Reebok’s Hello Kitty Sneakers
What’s a Hello Kitty fashion item without its iconic red Hello Kitty bow, right? Don’t worry if you think these are a little too inappropriate for casual Fridays – the red bows are said to be removable!
The new iteration also keeps the InstaPump’s iconic laceless design. The famed feline is featured on a black Hello Kitty pump button allowing you to adjust the fit via air chamber technology.
To give you some contrast against the reds and whites so you don’t look like it’s National Day all year round, the black mesh at the back of the shoe features an adorable Hello Kitty face!
Even the insoles are covered with cute Hello Kitty prints! Is there really such a thing as too much Hello Kitty? We think not.
Just when you thought these shoes can’t get any more adorable, Reebok has also released a kid-friendly version for the Hello Kitty collection – time to paint the town red with your tiny tots!
Reebok’s Gudetama Sneakers
The most relatable egg ever is now ready to be worn as a total fashion statement!
The chunky Gudetama shoe has a white, yellow, and black colour theme with zig-zags resembling omelettes on the front, topped off with a splash of what looks like egg yolk.
An air pump is positioned right smack in the center of the tongue, with the face of – you guessed it – Gudetama! Tightening your shoes just got a lot funnier with the squishing of Gudetama’s adorable face.
The Gudetama iteration also consists of the lazy egg’s face at the back of the shoe with adorable detailing in the form of a cracked eggshell pattern.
The insoles even feature Gudetama hiding inside his eggshell. We certainly can’t get enough of Gudetama’s personality!
The Reebok x Hello Kitty and Gudetama sneakers have been available in Japanese retail stores since 23 September 2019, and are also available online in Japan. Both the Reebok x Hello Kitty sneakers and the Reebok x Gudetama sneakers retail at ¥21,600 (About SGD277). The Hello Kitty kids sneakers retail at ¥7,009 (About SGD90).
Reebok has yet to confirm a global launch date but it’s definitely following in the coming months. Watch this space for updates!
