Keto diet meal plans and the ultimate guide on how to go keto in Singapore

The keto diet has become increasingly popular for its many health benefits. Yet, following this very low-carb, high-fat diet can be challenging in Singapore, since rice and noodles feature heavily in Asian cuisine.

If you are considering adopting this diet but unsure as to what you can eat, or if you are already following the diet but are on the lookout for more keto diet meal plans and food options available, this guide is for you.

We have put together everything you need to know about eating keto in Singapore, from meal plan ideas using ingredients you can easily find locally, to eateries that offer keto dishes on their menu.

Don’t want to brave the crowd? We also have recommendations on meal delivery services that prepare and deliver keto diet meal plans straight to your door. There are no excuses to break your diet anymore!

For beginners: what is a keto diet?

As mentioned above, the keto, short for ‘ketogenic’, diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet. When we drastically reduce our carb intake, our body enters a metabolic state called ketosis, where it starts burning fat as your primary source of energy, particularly for your brain.

The health benefits of the keto diet are plenty. Not only does it help reduce body fat, It also keeps your blood sugar and insulin level low.

Aside from the standard keto diet, there are several other versions such as high-protein keto diet or cyclical keto diet, where you will follow a standard low-carb, high-fat diet for five to six days a week and one to two days of eating a slightly higher amount of carb.

Why do you need a keto diet meal plan?

Regardless of what type of keto diet you are on, it is important when you are on a keto diet that you keep your carb intake low enough for your body to go into ketosis. Without ketosis, your efforts will go to waste as you will not reap the health benefits that a keto diet can bring.

Having a keto diet meal plan will help you control the amount of carbs, fat and protein that you consume daily, to ensure that you stick to the advised amounts.
