Fitbit launches a weighing scale that tracks and syncs comprehensive health data

Fitbit may be famous for being one of the pioneers of smartwatches, but did you know that they also produce other smart devices such as weighing scales?

The wearable tech brand has a line of smart weighing scales called Fitbit Aria, and they recently added one more product to the line-up: Aria Air.

Compared to its pricier counterparts, Aria Air is a low-cost Bluetooth scale that is meant to be a much more affordable option for those who want to foray into smart scales. It tracks weight using Bluetooth to easily sync data from the scale to the Fitbit app, where you can see BMI and a complete view of your essential health metrics in easy-to-view graphs and charts.

Read on to see more of what the Aria Air has to offer beyond an ordinary weighing scale:

Create a plan and get calorie coaching

Chances are, most of us have a weight goal in mind and want to know exactly how we are working towards it, beyond just knowing our weight.

With Aria Air, you can now log your nutrition, use calorie coaching to see how many calories you’re burning versus consuming in real-time, and compare your food consumption and exercise against your weight trends to stay on track.

Let’s say you just ate a plate of carrot cake and want to know how much more calories you need to burn in your evening workout in order to stick to your weight loss goal of 1kg for the month. All you have to do is get on the Aria Air, check your current weight, and your Fitbit app will tell you exactly how many calories you have to lose for the day – it’s that simple!

Compatible with Fitbit Premium

Besides being able to sync with an existing Fitbit device and Fitbit app, you can also integrate the Aria Air with Fitbit’s new paid membership – Fitbit Premium.

This personal training app features personalised insights and guided programs, including a two-week program to help you understand the importance of keeping an appropriate calorie range for your weight goal.

Connect to partner apps

If you have been using different apps to track your exercise and nutritional intake, you may have realised how troublesome and difficult it is for you to keep track of everything.

When you weigh yourself on the Aria Air, you can easily sync your weight data with popular brand apps so you can see all your exercise, food logging and weight data in one place on the Fitbit app – no more switching from app to app for data input!

Get support and inspiration from the community

Most of us who have struggled with dieting would know that keeping track of your weight loss goals can be a very demoralising and lonely journey to take. Research has also proven that having friends or family members who are supportive of your healthy eating and exercise goals is essential for long-term weight-loss success.

With that in mind, Aria Air differentiates itself by going behind just a weight log: it allows you to access the Community section of the Fitbit app to connect with friends, family, and other Fitbit users. You can share healthy eating and weight management tips, support one another when times get tough, and of course, supervise one another to make sure that no one strays far from their goals.

Still unsure whether you really need a smart weighing scale? Here’s some food for thought: according to co-founder and CEO of Fitbit, James Park, 73 per cent of Fitbit users who set a weight loss goal reduced their weight after six months of tracking it. That’s more than enough motivation for us to start tracking our weight management with the Aria Air!

Fitbit Aria Air will be available in black and white in Singapore from October 15 onwards at SGD78 across leading local retailers including Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, Gain City, Harvey Norman, and Lazada.
