The world’s biggest e-commerce website has finally come to life here!
At Funan Mall, the very first Taobao store in Southeast Asia is here to stay, following the success of an extended Taobao home pop-up last year. Called Taobao store by Virmall, the shop is a partnership between Taobao and Virmall – a local firm that helps to bring in products from merchants on Taobao, which is under tech giant Alibaba.
The 6,000-square-foot outlet offers over 300 products specially curated for Singapore shoppers – think furniture, household items, textiles, fashion, and much more! It’s no surprise that roughly 80% of the items are from the home and living category, seeing that it’s the fastest-growing product category in Singapore on the Taobao platform. These include items from Taobao’s home and living channel Jiyoujia and Chinese brand Linsy Home amongst others.
Shop seamlessly across platforms
A new age is dawning with the seamless integration between online and offline platforms. At Taobao store by Virmall, you can now purchase products that catch your eye simply by scanning the QR codes of the items. Select colours, designs, and sizes online, and proceed to make payment – all within the Taobao app, on the spot!
Certain smaller items can be picked up from the store directly, while ready stocks of larger furniture pieces can be received as quickly as two to three days after purchase. Alternatively, you can also opt to pick up your online orders from the Taobao store instead of having it delivered to your home, depending on your own convenience.
Retail in the future
Virtual Reality (VR) is a game-changer and the coming VR storm now includes a VR service for shoppers at the Taobao store!
Now, you can visualise a particular piece of furniture in your own rooms, generated based on actual measurements of a room or even an entire house. Simply give the staff your apartment’s blueprint and after 45-60 minutes, you can explore the digitalised version of your home to decide how to furnish it! Real-life The Sims, anyone?
