NomadX, where physical meets digital: touch and feel products from online-only stores like Taobao, and bag ’em up right away

Yes, that’s right, this means that for the first time ever, retailers will be able to feel and touch Taobao goods in real life, and then purchase them right away with the QR code on the item. Because queuing up by the counter and lugging around your wallet while you shop (or shopping online and then getting disappointed when you see it IRL!) is so last year.

A two-storey space in Plaza Singapura, NomadX is Singapore’s very first ‘phygital’ multi-label concept store where it offers a blend of physical and digital experience.

Offering an array of functions like automated store assistance such as smart mirrors, interactive product walls or the cashless payment experience, NomadX is designed to combine the best of both worlds – the instant gratification and convenience of online shopping, along with the interactivity and discovery that brick-and-mortar shopping provides.

Not sure what that means? Apart from being able to scan and purchase the item right away, each stores offers its own unique experience. For instance, beauty brands like Mamonde allows shoppers to place any product on a reader and have its information displayed on a screen, while fashion-rental service Style Theory allows you to try on their rental pieces before deciding to rent them. They also provide sizing and style recommendations.

What stores can I expect to see at NomadX?

The NomadX Experience

Before you begin your shopping journey, you can choose to participate in NomadX’s onboarding gamification process where you’ll first do a personality test, and then assigned to one of the four tribes, based on your shopping preferences and habits. The four tribes are Sea, Mountain, Forest, and Wind which corresponds to The Enigmatic Shopper, The Conquer-It-All Shopper, the Love the Earth Shopper and the Live-It-Up Shopper profiles respectively.

Why this matters? You’ll be able to receive product and deal recommendations based on your own personal style, and if you’re stumped on what to buy, you can even see what other shoppers in your tribe have bought.

NomadX accepts the following payment methods: StarPay, credit cards, and NETS.

In celebration of NomadX’s opening, the first 300 American Express card members who charge $150 to their American Express Cards via StarPay will be rewarded with 20,000 Star$.
