8 drinking events for great wine, beer, sake, and more so you can get tipsy this October

We’re finally reaching October, the month of fuzzy sweaters, spooks in every corner, and of course, Oktoberfest. The highly-anticipated time is nearing and we’ve got a little round-up of boozing events for you.

So get ready to unwind and let loose! We’ve got drinks for everyone – not just beer, but sake, wine, and even some rosé.

1. Oktoberfest by Kempinski

Experience an authentic Bavarian celebration – only at Singapore’s one and only authentic German heritage hotel. Held at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel, Oktoberfest features German beers and wines such as Paulaner Oktoberfest Beer, Jägermeister, as well as a Leopold Wine selection.

Alongside your mugs, munch on free-flow German cuisine by Frieda restaurant’s very own Chef Jan Mulik. Oven-roasted pork knuckles, oven-baked chicken, meatloaf and grilled farmer are just some of the dishes you’ll find! 2. The GREAT Wine & Dine Festival

For a gastronomical experience like no other, The GREAT Wine & Dine Festival is the place to be. Discover over 400 of the world’s best wines and craft sakes – some of which are esteemed nominees of the inaugural Wine Pinnacle Awards!

Attend masterclasses by top wine critics, or while you discover the excellent wines, you can tantalise your tastebuds with exclusive dishes created by acclaimed celebrity chefs. Exactly how exclusive? LA cult-favourite, Lobsterdamus, will be there for the first time in Singapore. The festival opens to trade and RWS members on 10 Oct, and the public from 11 to 12 Oct. 3. 酒縁 SHUEN Sake Fiesta / Harvest

Organised by SAKEMARU, Singapore’s only subscription service dedicated to Sake, this is the first ever outdoor Sake event. The first-of-its-kind event reflects a Japanese festival, so besides Sake, you can expect special street foods like takoyaki, yakitori, yakisoba, sushi and more! At the fiesta you’ll find over 30 labels of seasonal, limited Sake and even some premium Sake, such as Juyondai.

Sake enthusiasts will want to participate in the Sake masterclass, conducted by Mr Kobori, a Japanese brewer from Toraya Honten – an award-winning artisanal brewery. There, you’ll learn about Sake and its production. There’ll also be some traditional Japanese games which will give you a chance to win a glass of the premium Juyondai sake – it is worth more than SGD 350!

4. The Wine Discovery Weekend

Enjoy the world’s finest artisanal wineries, all in one spot! The vineyard-to-table event offers you the chance to taste over 100 artisanal, boutique and top notch wines from over 40 wineries all around the world. For a hint – you can expect the finest and most famous French, Spanish and Italian wines.

Meet up with fellow wine lovers, or even the people behind the famous wines themselves. If you fall in love with a wine, you can bring a bottle home at a special and exclusive one-day-only price. 5. Rosé Revolution Singapore 2019

Back in Singapore for the fourth time, the Rosé Revolution will be held at the newly renovated Alkaff Mansion. Experience a Spanish flair at the restaurants at The Alkaff Mansion, UNA and TXA, which will provide culinary offerings during the event. Expect Basque cuisine and pintxos designed to pair perfectly with the rosé! 6. Sun Wine Down

Kick off your shoes and bury your feet at the sand. The Sunset Wine Experience, by the beach, is happening at FOC Sentosa again! Seven of the most renowned Mediterranean winemakers are making their way down to our sunny shores to present to you their gems, and let you try every great wine – so if you have any burning wine questions, ask away.
