Gem-inspired treats are now available in a special afternoon tea set presented by The Marmalade Pantry and MADLY

We already know that precious gems are a feast for the eyes, but now, you can truly enjoy a gastronomic feast inspired by them.

The Marmalade Pantry has partnered MADLY Bespoke Jeweler, Singapore’s only fine jewellery design house
specialising in coloured gems, to present a gem-inspired afternoon tea experience.

The jeweler is founded by former radio presenter Maddy Barber in 2014, and it ethically sources for the world’s top 0.1% of coloured gemstones from all over the world.

Inspired by MADLY’s dazzling gemstones, The Marmalade Pantry has specially curated an exclusive Bejewelled Afternoon Tea Set, which will be available for a limited time only at its ION Orchard outlet, where a co-branded pop-up is taking place.

This is the bistro’s first-ever pop-up and as part of the collaboration, the ION outlet also went through a makeover to feature the brand colour of MADLY – a distinctive pink that makes for a good photography backdrop.

One of the cupcakes is embedded with a surprise “geode”.

Of these, the most memorable for AVENUE ONE when we visited was the Geode Cupcake, which features the signature The Marmalade Pantry vanilla cupcake embedded with a surprise “geode” of molten Bailey’s Irish Cream encased in a truffle shell.

It was a gorgeous treat that was also delectable; you’ll certainly enjoy how the Bailey’s Irish Cream oozes out from the cupcake as you take a generous bite into it.

In case you’re wondering, this cupcake is made to remind of us of how geodes that appear like normal rocks can be cracked open to reveal colourful gemstones.

Classic Panna Cotta is dressed up with pretty jelly cubes inspired by Aquamarine and Morganite.

The Beryl Panna Cotta Shooter is also a tasty treat that looked beautiful as it’s bejewelled with house-made blue and pink jelly cubes that are inspired by the pastel shades of Aquamarine and Morganite gemstones.

If you’ve loved The Marmalade Pantry’s plain and raisin buttermilk scones, you’ll be happy to know that it’s also in the set and is accompanied by clotted cream, strawberry preserve, and orange marmalade; the latter two are reminiscent of Rhodolite and Mandarin Garnets.

The Spinel Tarlet was a highlight inspired by the Spinel gemstone.

For savouries, we really enjoyed the Spinel Tartlet, which takes cue from the variety of colourful hues in the Spinel
gemstone – from sultry greys to peachy pinks, presented with a crab mayo of flower crab claw meat, mayonnaise, whole grain mustard and sliced scallions, finished with fresh dill and Avruga caviar for a touch of luxury.

This afternoon tea set is also completed with two pots of artisan tea from homegrown brand Monogram Tea.

Scan the QR code on the cake topper to learn more about the gemstones that inspired this afternoon tea set. There’s also a “Lapidarist in Action” experiential zone at The Marmalade Pantry so you can observe a virtual lapidarist at work, filmed in real time, to appreciate this craft and art form more.

The Bejewelled Afternoon Tea Set is priced at S$78++ for two persons and is available for dine-in at the ION outlet, 2pm to 6pm from Monday to Thursday, available from now till 30 November 2022. The pop-up is only available at The Marmalade Pantry ION located at 2 Orchard Turn, #04-11, ION Orchard, Singapore 238801.
