The Marmalade Pantry has opened its newest outlet on 7 May at Anchorpoint and you can look forward to perennial favourites and exclusives in its menu.
Located at the Central Atrium on Level 1 of the mall, the new bistro stands out as it greets guests who enter from the main entrance. Its relaxing vibe and cosy space that’s accented by lush greenery are also hard to ignore.
AVENUE ONE experienced the new outlet and had a taste of its exclusive items. Here are our thoughts.
The Marmalade Pantry Anchorpoint outlet review
Ambience
Like the other The Marmalade Pantry outlets, its latest one at Anchorpoint offers a chic and comfortable setting that feels welcoming.
Similar to its ION Orchard flagship outlet, the new Anchorpoint outlet offers a cafe area and an “alfresco” space within the mall.
Prefer an intimate atmosphere? The cafe area with its homely vibe cuts it. Otherwise, take one of the “alfresco” tables if you enjoy people-watching.
Food & Drinks
For a delicious appetiser, I highly recommend the Tortilla with Mesclun Salad (S$16).
In this dish, cubed potatoes are fried until crispy, then combined with beaten eggs that contains sauteed onions and Spanish chorizo. Imagine a crispy potato salad within an omelette; it’s fragrant and offers a great texture.
To serve, the tortilla is garnished with chorizo oil and chopped chives, accompanied by a mesclun salad dressed with honey mustard dressing.
This is a great dish to share or for one person if you’re only feeling a little peckish.
The Duck Ragu Pappardelle (S$30) is a pasta dish that I enjoyed. This features thick pappardelle ribbons that are cooked till al dente, generously tossed with pieces of succulent balsamic glazed duck and finished with sauteed cherry tomatoes and grated parmesan.
The hearty dish is not cloying and is great as a meal on its own.
Finally, finish your meal with another exclusive item – the Honeycomb Poached Pear (S$16).
This refreshing palate-cleanser elevates the classic poached pear dessert by gently poaching it in an aromatic ginger flower syrup for an Asian interpretation. This is then topped with velvety whipped mascarpone and honeycomb for textures that come together harmoniously.
For drinks, I tried the Matcha Yuzu Cloud (S$9.50), a refreshing twist to a matcha latte. Soda water and yuzu syrup is added to iced matcha tea to offer a fizzy and uplifting taste to it. This drink is also topped with airy “clouds” of milk foam and a dusting of matcha powder to give it its Instagram-worthy good looks.
Of course, The Marmalade Pantry classics such as the Spicy Crabmeat (S$29), The Marmalade Mac & Cheese (S$25), Kimchi Steak Fried Rice (S$28), and Sticky Date Pudding (S$16) are also available at the new outlet.
