Stella Seaside Lounge Review: Beach Dining With Laidback Ambience

Nestled among swaying palm trees and the gentle waves of Changi Beach, Stella Seaside Lounge stands as a serene sanctuary for those craving a coastal retreat. Recently expanded, this bar and restaurant now boasts a larger space catering to private events, a pool, and an updated menu featuring a diverse array of delectable dishes and drinks.

AVENUE ONE visited the revamped establishment, and here’s our review of Stella Seaside Lounge.

Ambience: Laidback Elegance and Coastal Charm

Entering Stella Seaside Lounge, we were immediately transported to a laid-back beach paradise. Having seen numerous images on Xiao Hong Shu, a Chinese social media app, the place was even more captivating in person.

The décor harmoniously blends beach chic with modern elegance, employing pops of turquoise, coral hues, and natural wood to create a welcoming ambience. Whether basking in the sun on the expansive seaside deck, unwinding by the pool, or finding comfort in the alfresco area, every corner exudes a distinct charm.

Food Review: A Diverse Menu to Delight Every Palate

The menu at Stella Seaside Lounge offers a delightful voyage across continents, drawing inspiration from Mediterranean, Asian, and global cuisines. Given the assortment of delightful sharing options, it’s best enjoyed in the company of friends.

Among our chosen selections, a few dishes stood out:

The Grilled Pork Skewers were a hit at our table.

The Grilled Pork Skewers (S$16 for six pieces) were an instant hit at our table, pleasing both adults and children alike. Served with a homemade spicy dip, these marinated pork skewers were flavoursome even without the accompanying sauce — an ideal pre-meal snack or complement to drinks. The kids loved them so much that we ordered a second plate to share!

We also enjoyed the Birria Beef Tacos (pictured right).

Another standout choice was the Birria Beef Tacos (S$22), a gluten-free offering featuring pan-fried corn tortillas filled with slow-cooked beef short ribs, dressed in a flavorful mole and shredded cheese, accompanied by a rich beef consommé. Each bite of this hearty dish was a delight.

For meat enthusiasts, the Iberico Pork Chop (S$70) was a personal favourite. This substantial 500g mibrasa grilled bone-in Iberico pork chop, served with mesclun salad and balsamic dressing, boasted a perfectly grilled smokiness, tender enough to effortlessly separate from the bone. Given its generous portion, sharing with dining companions is highly recommended.

Seafood connoisseurs shouldn’t overlook the Fisherman’s Tray (S$170), exclusively available from Fridays to Sundays. This colossal platter, adorned with a whole lobster, seasonal live whole fish, clams in cajun sauce, and assorted vegetables, impresses both visually and gastronomically. Despite my initial skepticism regarding oversized dishes, which often disappoint me in the taste department, the Fisherman’s Tray pleasantly surprised me, particularly with the impeccably cooked lobster.

In addition to shareable dishes, Stella Seaside Lounge offers individual portions from the Small Plates menu, including salads, pasta, and burgers. One standout was the Mushroom Linguine (S$16), a delicious vegetarian option.

The bar has an extensive selection of booze for you to choose from.

Complementing the meal experience are their refreshing beverages. The bar boasts an extensive selection of cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beers perfectly suited for quenching your thirst while enjoying the seaside ambience.

Among their signature cocktails, the Sunset Daiquiri (S$23 per glass) is a vibrant blend of rum, Thai honey mango, fresh strawberries, mango puree, and strawberry syrup, while the Yuzu Sangriarita (S$75 per jug) offers a refreshing mix of vodka, yuzu soju, apple cider, apple juice, and Thai honey mango.

Entertainment and Events: Great for Social Gatherings

stella seaside lounge live music

Beyond being a dining and drinking spot, Stella Seaside Lounge serves as a vibrant hub for entertainment and events. Live music bands infuse the evenings with acoustic chill-out or upbeat pop and jazz tunes. With its expanded space, the venue is now even more accommodating for private events, as I witnessed during my visit — despite an ongoing event, regular patrons weren’t inconvenienced due to the ample space available.
