5 things you can only find at the Starbucks Jewel Changi Airport outlet

Starbucks has just opened their Singapore flagship store at the iconic Jewel Changi Airport, and it is the largest outlet in Singapore to date.

Like other Starbucks Reserve outlets, coffee exploration and discovery is at the heart of the store. The store has a focus on quality artisanal coffee, and offers coffee made through manual brewing methods: Chemex, Pour Over, Siphon Brew and Coffee Press. You can enjoy this experience at the Reserve Experience Bar, helmed by Starbucks coffee masters.

These coffee masters include champions and finalists in Singapore’s national coffee competitions, so you know you’ll be enjoying coffee that’s made by experts.

And while you’re at the Reserve Experience Bar, chat up with the barista who’s serving you. Ask them about the VA388 Black Eagle
Espresso Machine, which allows the barista full control over the consistency and precision in every aspect of a coffee – from bean ratio to brewing time and water temperature – directly impacting the customer connection with each personalised cup.

But besides all these, what else does the two-storey flagship store has to offer that you can only find at this outlet?

Avenue One visited the gorgeous flagship store to find out more about its unique offering.

1. Four-tap Nitro

The four-Tap Nitro is definitely the star of the Starbucks Jewel experience. It is the second outlet in Asia to offer Nitro brews, and the drinks include both coffee and tea beverages, such as the Nitro Flat White, Nitro Caramel Macchiato, Nitro Tropical Fruit Tea, and Nitro Green Tea Latte.

Our personal favourite? The Green Tea Latte, which is rich, smooth, and an overall balanced beverage that we’re quite sure would be a crowd-pleaser.

2. Locally inspired dishes

Dishes that are inspired by local cuisine are exclusively available at the Starbucks Jewel Changi Airport outlet.

For instance, the Hainanese Chicken Rice Quinoa Salad celebrates the iconic chicken rice that visitors associates with Singapore’s food scene.

This unique East-meets-West dish features a medley of cauliflower rice, quinoa, poached chicken slices, achar, cherry tomatoes, chicken skin crisp, and chicken rice sauce. We were told that the best way to savour it is to pour the sauce into the jar and then shake it to mix everything up.

We were honestly quite apprehensive about this dish at first, but it turns out to be rather refreshing and makes for an enjoyable light meal any time of the day.

Satay Chicken Ciabatta

The Satay Chicken Ciabatta is another locally inspired dish to check out. And if you have a sweet tooth, consider the Milo Chocolate Tiramisu, which is topped with Milo powder, much like our favourite Milo Dinosaur drink.

Starbucks Singapore has also partnered with homegrown ice-cream parlor, Udders, to present two flavours of ice-cream: Vanilla and Cold Brew.

These can be enjoyed when you order the Classic Affogato, Cold Brew Float, or Cold Brew Malt, which we highly recommend, because it’s so delicious we can’t get enough of it.

The two ice-cream flavours are also available on sale in mini tubs.

3. Freshly baked pastries

The Starbucks flagship store at Jewel Changi Airport also presents freshly baked pastries, including buttery croissants, multigrain croissants, and chocolate croissants.

You can also go for one of the freshly assembled gourmet sandwiches. Options include Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Ciabatta, Mozzarella, Tomato & Pesto Ciabatta, Smoked Chicken, Turkey Bacon & Egg Mayo Broiche, and Pulled Beef Croissant.

4. The largest collection of original art pieces owned by Starbucks Singapore

Starbucks Jewel is also essentially an art gallery where you can take in artwork while enjoying your coffee.

The intricate artistic designs begin from the storefront and extend to its interior.

Upon entry, you’ll be greeted by the eye-catching layered wooden storefront that’s inspired by the textures of coffee farm landscapes.

The front and centre of the store lies a coffee bar that is shaped like a coffee bean. (Walk up to the middle of the staircase for a top-down perspective.)

Go up the stairs and be awed by the specially commissioned mural of the Starbucks Siren that’s painstakingly hand-chiseled over two months. This unique and beautiful artwork stretches across the staircase that links the two levels of store. Don’t forget to scan the QR code at the card next to the art work – you’ll get to watch a video of the artist working on this outstanding piece.

Get to level two, and you’ll definitely not miss the art piece that features the word “Singapore” made up of Peranakan-inspired tiles and Starbucks Reserve coffee cards.

The second level is also where the Art Room is at. This is where you’ll find a special collection of original pieces of art that are typically found within Starbucks stores across Asia. The Art Room will also be used to host coffee seminars and other coffee related events for customers.
