ShackMeister debuts at Shake Shack Suntec City opening: we review the exclusive menu and tell you if it’s good

You’ve probably already heard that Shake Shack is opening its fourth outlet at Suntec City.

But that’s not the only thing that’s exciting about it.

The burger joint has also announced the debut of the fan-favourite ShackMeister menu, which will be available exclusively at the new location on 30 September, before being made available across all four Singapore Shacks on 5 October.

Limited-time ShackMeister menu: What does it include?

Before we talk about the offering in the menu, here’s a little background about the ShackMeister Burger (S$10.90).

This was first created in 2015 for a burger competition in the USA, securing the Judge’s Choice for Best Burger. The burger eventually appeared on the Shake Shack menu for a limited time that same year. Those who have tried the classic ShackBurger would find the ShackMeister give a twist to the familiar taste. The ShackMeister features a heaping pile of crispy fried shallots on top of 100% Angus beef, which gives a garlicky flavor and extra crunch.

The shallots are marinated in custom-brewed ShackMeister ale, tossed in the same coating as the Chick’n Shack with flour, cayenne and paprika then crisp fried until golden.

The shallots that topped the ShackBurger were such a hit, they were also added to Shake Shack’s flat-top dogs and crinkle cut fries with the Shack’s signature cheese sauce, and are called the ShackMeister Dog (S$6.50) and ShackMeister Fries (S$5.90) respectively.

All three ShackMeister creations will be available at Shake Shack Suntec City from 30 September to 16 November, and at all Singapore outlets from 5 October to 16 November.

ShackMeister in Singapore: how do they taste?

AVENUE ONE tried the ShackMeister Burger and ShackMeister Cheese Fries during the media preview.

From the first bite of the ShackMeister Burger, we swooned. We really loved how the fried shallots presented a good crunch, which added dimensions to the textures and flavours.

On the other hand, the ShackMeister Cheese Fries didn’t impress us as much. While the shallots are just as crispy and flavourful, we didn’t feel that it added much to the cheese fries, which were usually already quite satisfying on their own.

However, if you’re intending to get a burger that’s not the ShackMeister Burger, the ShackMeister Cheese Fries will give you a taste of the iconic fried shallots.

Suntec City exclusive: Matcha Made in Heaven Concrete

The one item on the menu you can only get at the Suntec City Shack is Matcha Made in Heaven (S$7.50), a strawberry-matcha Concrete.

The classic rich, creamy vanilla frozen custard that Shake Shack fans are familiar with is blended with a tart strawberry yuzu jam and buttery shortbread, and topped with premium matcha powder in this indulgent rendition.

Matcha Made in Heaven Concrete review: How does it taste?

The Matcha Made in Heaven Concrete was an irresistible treat for us. We didn’t expect the combination of strawberry jam, which feels like a primarily Western ingredient would go so well with matcha powder, a traditionally Japanese ingredient – but they were, well, a match in heaven!

The buttery shortbread that were in the frozen custard were a delicious addition, and we find ourselves picking them out and enjoying every bite of it.

Other features to look forward to at Shake Shack Suntec City

As part of Shake Shack’s mission to Stand For Something Good, 5% of sales from the Shack Attack concrete – the concrete of choice for a chocolate lover – will continue to go to a charity partner. Shake Shack Suntec City’s selected partner is HealthServe Limited, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing healing and hope to migrant workers in Singapore.

Shake Shack has also collaborated with local artists Liquan Liew and Estella Ng of Ripple Root to create a large-scale indoor-outdoor mural welcoming guests into the Suntec City Shack. The mural that features splashy colours and bold geometric patterns can be seen at the entrance of the mall’s west wing, and guests can follow the origins of Shake Shack from its first location at Madison Square Park to its newest outlet at Suntec City.

Shake Shack Suntec City will be opened from 11am to 9.30pm daily, and is located at 3 Temasek Boulevard, #01-357, Suntec City Mall, Singapore 038983. This is located at the west wing of Suntec City and if you’re taking a taxi or private ride, you should request to drop at the Suntec City convention centre and you’ll see it just by the entrance.
