This rustic, al fresco restaurant whips up modern comfort food with a dose of nostalgia and cosiness

Rustic vibe

Raw Kitchen Bar is an outdoor bar has an obvious rustic vibe to it, and just like what its name suggests, it offers a very raw experience that may remind some of you of the times you gathered in the backyard of your grandparents’ home with your cousins as you waited for food to be served.

This outdoor restaurant is unlike any other, as you can see that it’s decorated to look just like the patio of a home, which can make you feel more at ease as you indulge in the comfort food that they serve.

There are different types of seats available, and if you’re there early, you can take your pick for which you prefer! If you’re having a leisure brunch or if you’re intending to chat over drinks, you might want to choose this seat. The design of it will look like you’re chilling in the balcony of your own home while having some refreshments, making it a great place to take lots of photos for the ‘gram.

They have a total of four menus, with three of them being food menus – weekend brunch, weekend snacks, and weekday dinners – and the last one being a Happy Hour menu.

If you’re looking to have brunch here, you might want to consider ordering their Herbal Tuna Tartare (S$18) as a starter. This features tuna tartare drizzled in Thai herbal sauce and garnished with perilla leaves and puffed rice for an added textures to the dish.

For mains, consider ordering the Miso Jerk Chicken (S$25). The bird is halved and brined for 24 hours before it is served with a side of pineapple sriracha and pickled fennel.

You’ll be surprised how tender and flavourful the meat is.

Alternatively, go for the Mentaiko Open-Faced which comes with fatty slices of aburi salmon laid on top of a slice of sourdough bread.

You can see that this restaurant is very generous with its mentaiko sauce, so you’re guaranteed that each mouthful will be bursting with flavour.

End the day off with a light and sweet dessert like the Rum Berry Tart (S$17)! This is baked with fresh berries, almond paste, and rum cream.

Delightful yet not too heavy to be eaten after a full meal.

For drinks, you can order a glass of bubbly, wine, cocktails, spirits, or even beer. But of course, if you prefer non-alcoholic drinks, they also have a selection of those.

Afternoon tea

If you’re not an early-riser, you can also consider coming down here for an afternoon tea with tipples on the weekends between 3pm and 5.30pm.

They serve a number of finger-foods like Prawn Toasties (S$10), Pad Krapao Croquettes (S$8), and even vegan options like Cauliflower Tacos (S$14) and Coconut Bread (S$10). For vegetarians, you can also have their Spiced Vinegar Fries (S$17).
