For many of us, we usually go to al fresco restaurants for a breath of fresh air, both literally and figuratively. There’s also something about dining outdoors that makes everything seem more peaceful, or even romantic.
Well, if you’re looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life where you can relax and unwind in a place that is cosy and can even give you a dose of nostalgia, you might want to visit Raw Kitchen Bar.
Raw Kitchen Bar is an outdoor bar has an obvious rustic vibe to it, and just like what its name suggests, it offers a very raw experience that may remind some of you of the times you gathered in the backyard of your grandparents’ home with your cousins as you waited for food to be served.
This outdoor restaurant is unlike any other, as you can see that it’s decorated to look just like the patio of a home, which can make you feel more at ease as you indulge in the comfort food that they serve.
There are different types of seats available, and if you’re there early, you can take your pick for which you prefer! If you’re having a leisure brunch or if you’re intending to chat over drinks, you might want to choose this seat. The design of it will look like you’re chilling in the balcony of your own home while having some refreshments, making it a great place to take lots of photos for the ‘gram.
Surround yourself in lush foliage, good vibes, and amazing company and feel all your worries melt away for the time being.
Modern comfort food
Now, we’re sure that you’re curious about what type of food they serve.
They have a total of four menus, with three of them being food menus – weekend brunch, weekend snacks, and weekday dinners – and the last one being a Happy Hour menu.
If you’re looking to have brunch here, you might want to consider ordering their Herbal Tuna Tartare (S$18) as a starter. This features tuna tartare drizzled in Thai herbal sauce and garnished with perilla leaves and puffed rice for an added textures to the dish.
For mains, consider ordering the Miso Jerk Chicken (S$25). The bird is halved and brined for 24 hours before it is served with a side of pineapple sriracha and pickled fennel.
You’ll be surprised how tender and flavourful the meat is.
Alternatively, go for the Mentaiko Open-Faced which comes with fatty slices of aburi salmon laid on top of a slice of sourdough bread.
You can see that this restaurant is very generous with its mentaiko sauce, so you’re guaranteed that each mouthful will be bursting with flavour.
End the day off with a light and sweet dessert like the Rum Berry Tart (S$17)! This is baked with fresh berries, almond paste, and rum cream.
Delightful yet not too heavy to be eaten after a full meal.
For drinks, you can order a glass of bubbly, wine, cocktails, spirits, or even beer. But of course, if you prefer non-alcoholic drinks, they also have a selection of those.
Pair your meal with a cup of coffee or a refreshing glass of juice that will cool you down from the sweltering heat.
