Award-winning Danish chocolatier Peter Beier is now in Singapore

Chocolate-lovers are in for a treat. After the launch of Swiss luxury chocolate brand Laderach came to Singapore last year, the latest luxury chocolate brand to arrive is Peter Beier.

The award-winning chocolatier from Denmark is known for his farm-to-table concept. Creating the best possible conditions for growth of cocoa trees in its 130 hectares garden in Denmark, Peter Beier harvests its cocoa beans every two weeks.

The luxury chocolate brand then ferment, roast, and conched the beans by traditional methods, before transporting the raw chocolate to Ørsholt Gods, where they’re transformed into high quality chocolates.

Two boxes (five-piece and 10-piece heart collection) of heart-shaped chocolates are available, and they each carries an assortment of Ruby Heart (filled with strawberry ganache and covered with ruby chocolate), Orange Heart (filled with ganache and orange oil, covered with dark chocolate), Nougat Heart (filled with ganache and covered with milk chocolate), and Amber Heart (filled with hazelnut ganache and covered with amber chocolate with sea berry).

The Ruby Heart, in particular, is the one to look out for. This features the ruby chocolate, a brand new chocolate that has been created by the chocolate industry – a new innovation since 80+ years ago when the white chocolate was developed. (The dark chocolate and milk chocolate were creation before the white chocolate.)

Peter Beier’s Ruby Heart is a naturally pink chocolate that’s developed from the reddish ruby cocoa bean that grows on his cocoa plantation. It contains 47% ruby and is touted the best ruby chocolate in the world.

What makes ruby chocolate stands out from the rest is its signature (slightly) sour taste with hints of sweet and natural notes of berries.

We had the chance to try out the Ruby Heart and was impressed by how subtly refreshing it tastes. The combination with the strawberry ganache brings out the refreshingly sour taste of the chocolate, and it certainly comes as an energising break from the other richer options.

Peter Beier Heart Collection retails at SGD29 for a box of five and SGD49 for a box of 10. There’s currently a promotion going on, where you’ll get to enjoy 10% off, as well as receive a free Icenoie Hokkaido soft serve or gelato in a cup.
