Edible bubble tea or mille crepe-like sandwich, anyone? We found these and more at a bakery in MBS

If you thought your days of going crazy over bubble tea is over, this dessert might just make you think again. Think Dominique Ansel’s famous chocolate chip cookie shot meets bubble tea, this delectable treat that has been trending on RED (a.k.a China’s Instagram) is a bubble tea cake that you can “drink” out of.

Find yourself digging into a delicious blend of salted caramel, hojicha creameux, and hojicha mousse as you crack open the Hojicha Bubble Tea (S$9). While the flavours are not too overwhelmingly sweet, its aesthetic is certainly a feast for the eyes.

From the removable chocolate lid to the delicate chocolate pearls, this innovative dessert certainly lives up to the bakery’s reputation for cooking up Instagram-worthy confections. If you’re wondering which patisserie is responsible for this creation it is none other than Origin + Bloom.

This grab-and-go patisserie is located in the snazzy lobby of Marina Bay Sands Hotel Tower 3, with its mouth-watering delicacies seducing customers on a daily from the glass cabinets.

And with its executive pastry chef, Antonio Benites, being a former pastry chef director at the Michelin-starred Joël Robuchon Restaurant and Atelier de Joël Robuchon, you already know Origin+Bloom’s confections are going to be top-notch.

Look forward to other avant-garde treats like this Sweet Dumpling (S$9) which consists of a rich cempedak creameux with coconut rice nested on top of a pandan biscuit. It is then coated with a light pulut hitam cream, and finally wrapped up in a dumpling leaf-shaped chocolate.

For a more fruity alternative, try the Mango (S$10) which features a nam doc mai mango mousse and a passionfruit-lychee jelly centre wrapped in a chocolate shell. It has a unique Sawarak pepper flavour that subtly tingles your taste buds.

No trip to the bakery is complete without a decadent chocolate dessert like Black Symphony (S$10). Consisting of salted caramel mousse, dark chocolate pecan brownies, and a buttery cacao crumble base, this indulgent delight will surely hit that sweet spot.

If you’re craving for something more savoury, Origin + Bloom also boasts a wide selection of artisanal bread and pastries. The Whole 9 Yards (S$16 / 4cm) caught our eye with its nine layers of premium mortadella pork, chorizo, pickled vegetables, and gammon ham in between a signature sourdough bread.

Seeing all the layers of bread and ingredients, doesn’t the sandwich just remind you of the thin layers of a mille crepe?!

Pair your dessert or meal with a good cup of joe or try your hand at their Origin + Bloom Mazagran (S$6.50), a modern cold drip coffee with a splash of lemon juice and ice.

Unfortunately, Origin + Bloom does not have a social media presence to keep you updated on the latest updates. The only way to find out is through the Marina Bay Sands website or by heading down to the store itself.

As an incentive for making your way down to MBS, all Standard Chartered cardholders are entitled to 15% off the entire bill at Origin+Bloom with no minimum spend! This promotion is valid until 31 January 2022.
