Oumi is a new restaurant located on the rooftop of CapitaSpring that offers a modern Japanese Kappo dining experience. It makes use of in-house grown produce taken from the newly launched 1-Arden Food Forest as well as premium ingredients sourced from Japan to prepare its dishes, so you can expect the quality of food served here to pretty high.

The Kappo dishes are also Australian-inspired, and are served course-by-course so that you can truly savour the natural flavours of the ingredients of the season.

Indulge in the Tempura Crepe (S$25++ per piece), Ankimo (S$20++) which is Japanese monkfish liver marinated with white miso, and Gyutan Yaki (S$35++) where you get slivers of bincho-grilled Tajima beef tongue with a special blend of miso and yuzu juice.

Conclude the meal with a refreshing Kyoho Sorbet (S$22++) which features soft warabi mochi atop a bed of sesame crumble and crushed black sesame praline. The mochi is then topped with a scoop of Kyoho sake sorbet and decorated with berry paper tuile. This makes for the perfect shot for the ‘gram.

8. Kakurega (The Lair)

Kakurega (The Lair) is a cosy Japanese restaurant that features an extensive selection of sake for you to choose from. It’s the perfect place to gather with your friends on the weekends or with your colleagues after a long day of work to catch up and chat over drinks.

This April, Kakurega (The Lair) has come up with a new menu of Japanese yakitori and delights for you to pair with your sake, and some of the items include the Tatami Iwashi (S$12++) which is dried sardine sheet, Kaisen Salad (S$18.80++) featuring Japanese sashimi atop mixed greens, Buta Bara yakitori (S$3.80++ per skewer) which is grilled Japanese pork belly, and the Risotto Croquette (S$8.80++) which is deep-fried risotto balls.

AVENUE ONE had the chance to try this menu out, and our favourite item was the Risoto Croquette! This was really good and certainly a must-have if you dine here. The risotto balls were fried perfectly to the shade of golden brown, giving rise to a crispy exterior. The inside was tomato risotto that was so flavourful that it felt like we were eating bursts of goodness. This also went perfectly with the sake that was recommended to us!

There’s no better way to spend your Sunday mornings than to gather with family and friends to dig into an indulgent brunch, and if you’re looking for a great place to head to, that would be Tablescape Restaurant and Bar.

The Modern European is welcoming April with a brand new Sunday Brunch menu featuring a semi-buffet with fresh seafood, meats, and brunch classics with a twist.

Dig into starters like the Seafood on Ice which features a Boston lobster, fresh prawn, and plump mussels poached in a housemade bouillon, Housemade Truffle Ebi Maki Roll, and the Pernod-Scented Melon Soup.

For mains, choose one out of the five offerings that the restaurant has. We’d recommend going for the Pork Belly that is perfectly roasted and served with a side of creamy cauliflower puree, and the Sea Bass Meuniere that is a roasted fillet with homemade salsa verde.
