13 new menus and restaurants to check out in September if you’re looking for a brand-new gastronomic experience

You may love that sushi bar or K-BBQ restaurant and call it your favourite hangout, but you may not want to visit it four times in a month.

Why not change up your next dining spot in September and take your taste buds on a blissful gastronomic escapade? From buffets to fast food chains, our curation of 13 latest menus and new restaurants will have you load up on some of the most exciting cuisines.

1. Gordon Grill launches new German set menus for a limited time

While we might not be able to travel anytime soon for the remaining of 2020, good thing Singapore’s a melting pot of cultures especially when it comes to food!

Whisk your tastebuds away on a trip to Europe with a thrilling exploration of German flavours at Gordon Grill – once known as Teutonia Club in the 1900s.

From now till 21 September, tuck in to an exemplary selection of notable German dishes in a three-course or four-course set menu or a five-course degustation for a truly indulgent experience.

Australian Wagyu Beef Fillet Mignon, Grilled White Asparagus, Béarnaise Sauce and Potato Gratin

Highlights include the luxurious picks available as starters, with the Seared Atlantic Scallops with smoked Black Forest Ham and Brown Mushroom Ragout with hollandaise sauce and the Bavarian Sauerkraut Soup. 

As for the main course, the classic flavours of Bavaria are served with the Crispy Pork Belly, and a buttery explosion of flavours with the Australian Wagyu. Gordon Grill is also serving exceptional cuisine from the North with Pan-seared Halibut Fillet with Mustard Dill Veloute and yellowfin tuna.

Savour the exquisite flavours of Northern Germany in dessert with a luscious serving of red currant jelly Red Grits paired with bourbon vanilla sauce. Also available is the decadent Dark Cherry Crumble Cheesecake with Hazelnut Ice Cream that’s sure to satiate and satisfy.

2. Starbucks adds vegan options to its menu

Didn’t manage to catch the Impossible Rendang Pie by Starbucks earlier this June? No worries, the coffee house is back again this month with two new food items – the Impossible Pasta Salad Bowl and Impossible Pie. And this time, these additions are staying for good.

Following increasing demands for plant-based choices, Starbucks remains committed to expanding their environmentally friendly menu in a bid to contribute positively to global food system sustainability.

With the two items available all year round, Starbucks is one step closer to their global aspiration of becoming a more resource-positive company as well.

The Impossible Pie features ground Impossible Burger within a savoury medley of flavours, encased in buttery, flaky short-crust pastry. The salad bowl on the other hand is a vibrant toss of fusilli pasta and greens amongst Impossible meatballs, served with a soy sesame dressing.

According to Patrick Kwok, general manager, Starbucks Singapore, we can look forward to handcrafted beverages with plant-based options in the coming months. We’re definitely keeping our eyes peeled for them!

The new menu is available at all Starbucks stores across Singapore and for delivery through Deliveroo, Foodpanda, and GrabFood.

3. Green Monday’s collaborations offer easier access to plant-based diets

Speaking of plant-based food items, award-winning social venture platform, Green Monday is collaborating with PizzaExpress and local chain Daily Green to enable easier access to a plant-based diet.

The social enterprise, also creators of OmniMeat (the game-changing all-purpose plant-based meat analogue), is working with local hawker Daily Green to roll out two of their best-selling Chinese dishes – the OmniMeat Vegetarian Porridge (S$4.20) and OmniMeat Signature Vegetarian Noodles (S$4.80).

Daily Green is located at 217 Bedok North Street 1, 721 Ang Mo Kio Ave 8, and 501 West Coast Drive. 

For some Italian fare, PizzaExpress is introducing the new Heura Pollo Forza, a modified version of the pizzeria’s signature hot chilli chicken classic, made with Heura – a 100% plant-based chicken-substitute. This new addition comes in two variants: vegetarian mozzarella pizza (S$25.00++) and vegan pizza with Daiya cheese (S$28.00++).

Available for dine-in across all outlets and delivery islandwide.

Green Monday will also be releasing a heart-warming content series starring fellow advocates Madam Som Said, Malay dance pioneer, Artistic Director of Sri Warisan Performing Arts and renowned cultural Medallion recipient, Chef Louie Moong, Head Chef of PizzaExpress Singapore, Chef Raymond Khoo, Owner & Executive Chef of The Peranakan, and Chef John Lim, Founder of Daily Green to encourage the public to adopt plant-based eating every Monday.

4. Potato Head Singapore offers S$19 lunch promos

Feeling a little peckish for a mid-week treat? Look forward to one without breaking the bank with this exclusive S$19 lunch promotion available for delivery or takeaway!

Tuck in to Potato Head Singapore’s most popular burgers and hotdogs alongside a generous serving of house fries or salad and signature house lemonade or soft drink of choice.

9. Butter Bean opens at Funan Mall with a creative concept

If this isn’t the newest and most Instagrammable F&B addition we’ve seen in a while, drinks on us. Or rather, beans on us.

This coffeehouse creative concept unveiled its first ever outlet at Funan Mall just last Friday with a welcoming yellow 45-seat interior and faux tree for a refreshing touch, and we’re expecting a crowd at its second opening at VivoCity sometime soon in September.

10. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse launches new Italian menu

For all steak lovers out there, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse is about to become your go-to option for top quality steak on the occasional special day!

This month, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse has launched The Italian, as a nod to the intrinsic link between Italian and American cuisines. The new tasting menu expertly pairs juicy cuts of USDA Prime Black Angus Beef with the finest Italian wines for your utmost indulgence.

But before main course is served, whet your appetite with some fresh Fine De Claire Oysters paired with IS Argiolas Vermentino 2018, for the complete Mediterranean experience. The wine’s slight acidity works wonderfully with the nutty and salty flavour of the oysters.
