Sure, you visited Mount Fuji, now what if you can bring a piece of it back with you?
The idea of “bringing back Mount Fuji” is probably the reason why Fujisan Shokusan is so popular in Japan. That’s because you can bring an entire “loaf” of Mount Fuji back home to enjoy!
Take a peep at their goods that have locals and tourists alike braving the subzero weather just to have a taste:
The star of the show is, of course, the super Instagrammable, teal-and-white Mount Fuji-shaped loaf (as seen above). A pink version is also available. In addition, this store doesn’t use any artificial coloring- the teal and pink colors comes from natural fruit juice, imparting a subtle fruity taste to the bread.
However, Fujisan Shokupan’s other breads are equally unique. Although they may not be as adorable as the Mount Fuji bread, their other breads (a soy-and-olive combination, raisin bread, and a plain one) are equally queue worthy. Plus, they’re all made with local ingredients and mineral water straight from Mount Fuji itself!
Located at Lake Kawaguchi in a prefecture near Mount Fuji, Fujisan Shokupan’s location provides stunning views of the calm, mirror-like lake and the famed mountain itself, making it a tourist hot spot for both its scenery and its unique bread that we wouldn’t miss.
Each Fujisan-inspired bread retails at JPY800.
