Celebrate Japanese female trailblazers at Ichigo Ichie
From 8 to 12 March, Ichigo Ichie celebrates International Women’s Day by showcasing the work of Japanese female trailblazers.
Chef Akane Eno, who’s the only female Japanese chef leading a restaurant in Singapore, shows support by creating a special menu that showcases sake and produce from three female suppliers who she works closely with.
As you enjoy the fine-dining menu, don’t forget to also order two sakes from Maizuru Brewery, whose master brewer, Hanado Kudo. Kudo is the first female toji in Akita in 2000, when female members comprised only 2.3% of the Japan Toji Union.
Ichigo Ichie commemorates International Women’s Day with an exhibition of pottery and lacquerware from three Japanese women artisans. Every piece reveals a hard-earned mastery, passionate persistence and a sensibility refined over time so that the exhibition, though small, becomes a compelling celebration. Additionally, as another form of support for the artisans, the pieces are available for sale (from $79++).
Additionally, an array of fine Japanese pottery and lacquerware created by three Japanese female artisans – Eiko Tanaka, Mayuki Kato, and Rui Mito – will also be showcased at the restaurant.

Support United Women Singapore at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore
The Purple Afternoon Tea is an annual initiative by The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore to contribute to fund-raising efforts for women’s empowerment, as a way to commemorate International Women’s Day.
This will be available from now to 31 March 2022, and S$5 nett from the proceeds of each Afternoon Tea set will be donated to United Women Singapore, a non-profit organisation that aims to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment by promoting STEM for girls and advocacy on the prevention of domestic violence.

Another way to support United Women Singapore? Attend a special event organised by dining at Chimichanga Holland Village.
They have partnered up to raise funds for women empowerment initiatives and programmes through a fundraiser – Cocktails for a Cause, in partnership with Aperol.
This special event features an all-female line-up who will be trying their hand at bartending to raise funds for United Women Singapore. The guest bartenders for the night will be Aarthi, Executive Director of the SPCA; Sze and Oliva, tattoo artists at Wild Paw Tattoo Co.; and Melissa, founder of Aurion and The Auction House SG.
United Women Singapore will receive 50% of the proceeds from the sales of the specially crafted cocktails prepared by the female guest bartenders.

This International Women’s Day, rooftop bar Smoke & Mirrors shines a spotlight on Kathleen Galicia, their talented front-of-house woman.
She has created the Forget-me-not cocktail (S$18++), featuring gin, elderflower, lavender bitters, wolfberry and Ancho Reyes. This sweet and spicy cocktail is also in luminous purple, as a tribute to the colour of International Women’s Day.
