Of course, making homemade meatballs will require work, but it’s actually relatively simple, and you’ll get to enjoy it in the end! Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients to make IKEA meatballs

Meatballs

  • 250g minced beef
  • 250g minced pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped or minced
  • 100g rusk flour, or breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 5 tablespoons of whole milk
  • Salt and pepper

Cream sauce

  • Oil
  • 40g butter
  • 40g plain flour
  • 150g vegetable stock
  • 150g beef stock
  • 150g double cream
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Directions to make IKEA meatballs

Meatballs

  1. Combine the minced beef and pork, and rub between fingers to rid of any lumps. Then, add in the onion, breadcrumbs, garlic, and egg in and mix. Lastly, add in milk, enough salt and pepper, and mix.
  2. Shape the meatball mixture by rolling it between your palms, cover them, and refrigerate it for two hours, which will help it to hold its shape while cooking.
  3. In a frying pan, add oil and turn up to medium heat. Gently add the meatballs and brown on all sides.
  4. Add the browned meatballs to an ovenproof dish and cover, then place in a hot oven (180 degrees celcius for conventional models, and 160 degrees celcius for fan versions) for a further 30 minutes.

Cream sauce

  1. Melt the butter in a pan, and whisk in flour for two minutes to create a roux. Add in the beef and vegetable stock while stirring, then the double cream, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard, bring to a simmer, and allow sauce to thicken.
