The Glenlivet’s new cocktail capsule collection lets you ‘eat’ whisky – find out how you can get these for free

For many of us, drinking has become a leisure activity that we occasionally indulge in on weekday evenings after a long day at work with a couple of friends just to let our hair down and forget about our worries for that moment.

However, drinking the same ol’ drinks can sometimes be boring no matter how much you love alcohol, which is why jello shots were invented years ago – to spice things up a little and make it more fun. While it was fun, there was also people who disliked it as jello shots were often made with cheap booze that didn’t taste very good.

This problem was soon solved by The Glenlivet, one of Scotland’s best known distillers, when it jumped on the bandwagon three years ago and surprised the high-end drinking community with an elevated and more sophisticated version of jello shots – delicious whisky pods that you pop in your mouth to enjoy.

This time, the distiller is back with a brand new collection that has been redesigned for the general public.

The Glenlivet Cocktail Capsule Collection

The Glenlivet Cocktail Capsule Collection features four whisky cocktails packaged into a new design of ingestible spheres designed in collaboration with a Spanish food company.

The spheres are made from seaweed and they are meant to offer an ‘even smoother tasting experience’. The packaging is certainly a step up from its predecessor which was much bigger with 30% ABV per serving. The redesign is currently able to hold approximately seven millilitres of whisky, keeping the ABV at 20% per serving instead.

Flavours available

You can choose from four flavours: Paloma, The Last King, The Old Fashioned, and Whisky Sour. The former two are made from The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve non-age statement whisky, while the latter two are made from The Glenlivet 12 Year Old.

The capsules are packed in a jar of 12 and they will remain fresh for about two weeks once the jar is opened. Trust us, the capsules will probably be gone by the second day you’ve opened the jar. It’s just that addictive!

If you’re looking for something that screams summer, you should definitely try the Paloma. Alternatively, you can also go for The Last King which has hints of honey and canned pineapples.

The Whisky Sour is the perfect balance between sweet and sour, while the Old Fashioned has notes of bittersweet toast and caramel, making it the best tasting out of the four flavours.

Where can I get it?

With all the excitement over this new collection that offers a novel experience, we’re sure you’re dying to know where you can purchase a jar of your own!

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to purchase them on their own.

However, The Glenlivet Cocktail Capsules are available as a complimentary gift when you purchase either a bottle of The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve (S$70.50) or The Glenlivet 12 Year Old (S$85) from the Pernod Ricard official store on Shopee.
