In just five short years, Fong Sheng Hao has carved a niche for itself in Singapore’s competitive F&B industry, boasting eight outlets with another set to open in Ang Mo Kio this December.
Originally hailed as one of “Taipei’s Top 10 Must-Eat Breakfasts”, this Taiwanese breakfast concept has found a firm footing here, thanks to its commitment to quality and authenticity.

What Makes Fong Sheng Hao Different?

At the heart of Fong Sheng Hao’s offerings is its charcoal-grilled toast, a signature item that stands out for its buttery, golden-brown exterior and fluffy interior. Unlike most establishments that outsource their bread, Fong Sheng Hao bakes theirs in-house to ensure quality control. Each slice is then grilled to perfection, embodying the essence of traditional Taiwanese breakfast culture.
Paired with a glass of their signature milk tea – brewed using Assam black tea leaves sourced from Lin Hua Tai, Taipei’s century-old tea shop – the combination is a comforting reminder of home for Taiwanese diners and an irresistible introduction for Singaporeans.
Hearty and Authentic

Fong Sheng Hao’s menu delivers on flavour and substance. The Pork Patty and Egg Cheese Toast, a bestseller, is satisfying and hearty, with the minced pork patty handcrafted daily. While it’s traditionally breakfast fare, this toast works just as well as a lunch or dinner option – think of it as a Taiwanese take on a burger.

For something more substantial, the Braised Pork Rice, served from 11am onwards, is a standout. Slow-braised for four to five hours to achieve the perfect balance of tender meat and rich sauce, it’s arguably one of the best renditions of this classic dish in Singapore. The careful selection of meat, with an ideal proportion of fat to lean, and the precise seasoning elevate it to a must-try.

To complement the mains, sharing snacks like the Fried Mushrooms are an excellent choice, offering a crispy, flavourful bite that pairs perfectly with any drink.
Quenching Thirst with a Taiwanese Twist
Their beverage menu is equally impressive. The Cane Flavoured Black Tea, sweetened naturally with sugarcane syrup after hours of boiling, is fragrant and refreshing.
Another highlight is the Soy Bean Milk, freshly made daily and subtly sweetened with the same syrup.
And for those craving the familiar, Singaporean-style kopi and teh are also available.
A Labour of Love

During AVENUE ONE‘s chat with co-founder Louis Tan, his passion for the brand was unmistakable. Though he humbly admits he “can’t even make a decent cup of coffee”, Louis is deeply invested in ensuring Fong Sheng Hao’s success. From strategising menu innovations to overseeing staff development and maintaining customer satisfaction, he is fully immersed in building a name Singaporeans can trust and love.
This dedication traces back to Louis and co-founder Benedict Tan’s early days in Taiwan, where they underwent a year-long training to learn the ropes of running a Fong Sheng Hao outlet. Their hands-on approach and respect for the brand’s origins have paid off, creating an authentic Taiwanese experience for Singaporeans.
Fong Sheng Hao has proven that even in the cut-throat F&B landscape, a focus on quality and authenticity can lead to success. With their upcoming Ang Mo Kio outlet, the brand shows no signs of slowing down. Judging by their food, drinks, and dedication, I’m confident they have what it takes to thrive and become a household name in Singapore.
If you haven’t already, drop by one of their outlets for a taste of Taiwan – the Braised Pork Rice and Charcoal-Grilled Toast await.
