Here’s where you can chomp down rendang beef sliders, waffle-chicken sliders and other comfort food

The beauty of happy hour lies not only in the pleasure of boozy offerings, but also in the bar bites that keep our bellies full. If you ask us, nothing beats sinking our teeth into a scrumptious slider as we lounge.

Originally defined as a thin patty of ground beef, cooked on a griddle with onions, then topped with pickles and American cheese before being sandwiched between buns, the common and looser definition of a slider these days refers to mini burgers with creative non-beef fillings to boot. That is why it isn’t just perfect to unwind with at night, but also makes a great midday meal.

So, when we were invited down to Cult Sliders to munch on their new mains and speciality sliders at noon, we couldn’t turn it down.

Cult Sliders’ new home

If you’ve frequented events such as Geylang Serai Bazaar, GastroBeats, and Neon Lights, 21 Sliders may ring a bell. After several pop-ups, they found a home at DECK, located on Prinsep Street. This year, however, they relocated to Boat Quay and decided to rebrand themselves as Cult Sliders – an apt name, in our opinion.

The joint now shares a space with Hermano by Sleeping Giants amidst a bustling dining scene the area is known for. With a new place to call home, Cult Sliders also introduced an all-new menu packed with a selection of mains and lunch specials, served up with their speciality sliders to feed the lunch crowd.

First up, the Cult Fries. These golden brown gems are served piping hot, with crispy skin and a steamy soft interior. The fries are great on their own, but when topped with a generous amount of spicy buffalo sauce, bits of fried chicken thigh, and caramelised onions, it takes the flavour to a whole other level.

For the mains, we were served The Cult’s Cutler and The Mac & Cheese Miller. The Cult’s Cutler shines the spotlight on its crispy chicken thigh, which has a sweet crunch on the outside and tender, juicy meat on the inside. Served with a side of mozzarella sticks coated in batter and fried to golden perfection, this main makes our mouths water long after we’ve had it.

A playful ode to the late rapper, The Mac & Cheese Miller is the ultimate comfort food. The humble dish of macaroni pasta engulfed in thick white cheddar and parmesan, baked to a lovely golden brown. What makes this rendition extra special is the sprinkling of bread crumbs and cayenne pepper, which puts a new spin on the beloved favourite.

Culture Collection

The team behind Cult Sliders is always on the lookout for new flavour profiles, which is why they’ve introduced their Culture Collection. Inspired by well-loved delights from various cultures, this special selection of sliders is made for the adventurous foodies.

We tried the Wfl’ N Chkn’, an interpretation of the popular fried chicken and waffle in slider form. Cult Sliders takes it up a notch with turkey bacon coated in delicious garlic honey butter. The succulent fried chicken is also drenched in sinfully sweet maple syrup, sandwiched between crispy waffles.

A unique take on the local favourite rendang dish, The Ren-DANG! uses 100% halal Australian beef to create its beef patty. Soft, pillowy buns cradle a juicy beef patty and a good amount of cheese and caramelised onions, doused in a generous helping of the joint’s very own rendang sauce. It really hits the spot for those who are craving something substantial, yet it won’t weigh a tonne in the tummy.

Cult Sliders’ lunch deals run from 11.30am – 1.30pm daily, priced from S$7.90 to S$11.90 for combos consisting of sliders, a drink, and choice of a side, while all mains will be available at S$12.90.
