We are all well-acquainted with Mr Bean’s signature soya bean and mini pancakes, but did you know the brand makes its own bak zhangs too?

- Teochew Dumpling with Yam Paste and Gingko Nuts (S$10.80): Drawing inspiration from the local yam dessert (orh nee), this will certainly be a unique bak zhang to dig into.

4. Yi by Jereme Leung
Well-known Masterchef Jereme Leung presents a new collection of three bak zhang flavours for you to enjoy with the family.
First up is the Traditional Abalone & Jinhua Ham Glutinous Rice Dumpling (S$48) which is an indulgent burst of umami flavour thanks to 12-head abalone, Jinhua ham, Japanese dried scallops, roast duck, pork belly, and chestnuts.
If you like all things spicy, then don’t miss the Spiced Pork Belly Glutinous Rice Dumpling (S$18) which is a hearty classic with a piquant twist, combining two hero ingredients – tender pork belly and Japanese dried scallops. To finish it off, sambal and Sakura shrimps are added into the mix to elevate the spicy, umami taste.
For something that hits the sweet spot, try the Kee Chang Bak Zhang with Raffles Signature Kaya Jam (S$22 for 5 pieces), a classic dumpling that’s accentuated with the rich and fragrant coconut-based spread.

5. Joo Chiat Kim Choo
Dubbed the OG of Singapore’s bak zhangs, getting yourself a bak zhang from Joo Chiat Kim Choo has almost become a must for every Dragon Boat Festival, and this year’s no different with the brand offering more flavourful goodness.
The signature Emperor’s Dumplings (S$47.40) is stuffed with some of the more luxurious ingredients such as umami dried scallops, luscious Chinese sausage (lap cheong), golden egg yolks, ginkgo nuts, roasted chestnuts, and premium-grade shiitake mushrooms, all tightly wrapped in fragrant bamboo leaves.
