? ???? ??? ?????? – ????? ???? ?⁣ ??? ?????ℎ ??? ????? ???? (????????ℎ ??̈???????) Claire Z., a multibillionaire, returns after 40 years to her impoverished hometown Güllen in order to get revenge on her teenage lover Alfred Ill. Having arrived, she voices her intention of donating one billion to the indigent inhabitants of Güllen, who, seeing her as their salvation, are ecstatic. Her condition for the donation, however, is that the townspeople kill one of their own – Alfred Ill. Dürrematt’s tragicomedy demonstrates the gradual yielding of societal solidarity to the brutal nature of human greed and the perceptiveness of justice. The three-act drama reveals man’s potential proximity to the abysses of morality. It tells its story with a comic tranquillity that recognises human being’s moral ambiguity. Generally, drama as a literary genre, is perceived as rather difficult to understand. However, the style and language Dürrenmatt uses is easy to grasp and relatively close to the German used in contemporary conversations, which is not the case in most dramas. So if you want to explore drama in German, this is the ideal start. The recommended proficiency level would be approximately B2. Come to our library to borrow the book and give it a try! ? #german #germanbooks #bookstagram #bookstoread #toreadlist #toberead #deutschlernen #derbesuchderaltendame #duerrematt #postwarfiction #drama #literature #germanliterature #tragicomedy

16. Classical Realism Singapore

Student work! This portrait was made by a student as a paid commission. The painting has a wonderfully loose, “painterly” quality to it. This sort of brushy paint handling is a very good approach to use in order to tackle one of the most challenging problems when making a portrait: the open smile. ⁣ ⁣ We’re so accustomed to taking photo snapshots of people with teeth-revealing smiles, that we really don’t give it much thought. It’s only when we are faced with creating an artistic representation of these expressions that we appreciate how kind of weird they really are and what a challenge they can be to render naturally.⁣ ⁣ If not artfully expressed, an open mouthed smile can look like a frozen grimace. Too much detail in the mouth and it can be distracting, making the viewer think about dentistry. ⁣ ⁣ The second picture in this post is by 17th century Spanish Baroque painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. It’s a well painted head no doubt. But there’s something a little off putting about the smile. It just looks a bit odd. ⁣ ⁣ The third pic is by Dutch painter Frans Hals. Wonderfully painted, but again, there seems to be something weird about the mouth. ⁣ ⁣ The fourth pic by Robert Henri reads better. It’s more loosely painted and suggestive. It appears to be a more natural representation. ⁣ ⁣ The last painting is an absolutely incredible portrait by the inimitable John Singer Sargent. Although the woman has an open mouth, it looks like a completely natural moment. Just amazing. ⁣

Not because it wasn’t a good place to be in, but I was still sorting out whether or not if this is really where I wanted to be in and with. Managed to pull through and here I am today ? . . Happy to have met colleagues whom I can call friends, growing together and shaping each other to be better than every yesterday. . . The journey we have been thru and the memories we made is nowhere like any other places I can find, I will keep it with me dearly ?✨ . .
