1. Explore the island on ATV

For a family-friendly activity on Jeju that both adults and kids will love, we highly recommend heading to Teseum. Otherwise known as Teddy Bear Theme Park, this is the world’s first interactive theme park with various real life-sized teddy bears that you can touch and hold!
Fans of teddy bears can take the chance to learn more about the origins and history of the all-time favourite toy. You can also see rare collectibles, bears dressed in traditional clothes of various countries, as well as gods from Greek mythology.

3. Ride a horse into the sunset
Jeju is well-known for being the land of the horse – there is even a Korean proverb that says ‘send people to Seoul and horses to Jeju’.
There are many horse parks on the island with many different species of horses, most of which offer horseback riding for tourists. For families with children, you can opt to do shorter courses of about 15 minutes, but if you want to experience something a little more exciting, check out the longer courses where you can ride through wild nature – sometimes the guide will even let you drift with the horse by yourself at high speed!

6. Get lost in Maze Land
Fans of South Korean variety show Running Man may be familiar with this iconic landmark in Jeju where the cast members got lost trying to get their way out of the tricky mazes.
This is the world’s longest stone maze that measures approximately 5.3km, and is sure to keep you entertained for some time as you try to figure your way out. We recommend grabbing everyone in the family to try this out and challenge one another to see who manages to get out first!
After you manage to complete the maze, you can also learn more about the history and origin of mazes in the 14th century, enjoy a “forest bathing” experience while basking in the presence of trees several decades old, as well as participate in other activities like puzzles and games.

7. Try Jeju’s specialty – black pork!
Every region in South Korea is famous for a certain type of food, and in Jeju, there is one that you cannot miss: black pork.
This is a rare type of pork that is said to be the best in South Korea, and is usually grilled in thick pieces over charcoal – traditionally, it would be grilled over a burning hay. The smoke from the charcoal or burning hay penetrates inside the red meat to create a unique flavour that you don’t get from other KBBQ places.
To get the best black pork, head to downtown Jeju City – there is a special place called Heukdwaeji Geori (흑돼지거리) or Black Pork Street, where all the restaurants lined up serve – you guessed it – black pork!

8. Conquer Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (Sunrise Peak)…
Seongsan Ilchulbong is said to have the best views of the sunrise on the island. As it is located on Jeju’s eastern side, it has the earliest dawn on the island as well, so you’ll find many people headed up an hour before sunrise to see dawn break from its peak.
In fact, sunrise on New Year’s Day is particularly special, as it’s said that the first people to glimpse the sun coming over the horizon will have good luck for the coming year! So if you’re planning a trip for early next year, this should definitely be on your list of things to do in Jeju!
Although the slopes of Seongsan Ilchulbong are steep, steps have been built up the crater to ease your climb. The peak is 182 metres above sea level, and the hike to the top shouldn’t take you longer than 45 minutes. There are frequent rest stops and benches that look out over the sea on the ascending pathway, so you can sit down and admire the breathtaking scenery that Jeju is famous for.

9. …then attempt Hallasan
This active volcano is popular with honeymooning couples, but don’t be mistaken – this is no walk in the park, and can be one of the most exhausting treks to take if you ever attempt it.
Hallasan is South Korea’s tallest mountain, so its distinctive volcanic crater peak can be seen no matter where you are on Jeju Island – it’s even visible from the South Korean mainland!
The most beautiful seasons to attempt Hallasan are fall and winter: in fall, the whole of Hallasan is blanketed by a colorful display of flowers and warm fall foliage, whereas the snow-covered mountain in winter makes for a dazzling sight to behold. As such, even though it is incredibly tiring, attempting to climb Hallasan is still considered to be one of the most exciting things to do in Jeju!

10. Immerse in tea at O’sulloc Tea Museum
One of the best things to do in Jeju is to visit the island’s tea museum. Located at the entrance of Seogwang Tea Garden in Jeju, O’sulloc Tea Museum is a must-visit for tea lovers, especially those who can’t get enough of the Jeju tea brand.
Although South Korea is often noted for its coffee culture, it is traditionally a tea-drinking country that consumes a lot of green tea. At the tea museum, you can learn more about Korean tea, tea cups, and truly immerse yourself in the art of tea-making. It features an indoor garden, Tea Cup Gallery, and Tea Stone, which provide a fascinating look into South Korea’s tea culture.
Of course, no tea museum experience is complete without actually tasting the tea itself. 12. See the traditional way of life at Jeju Folk Village
Take a peek into Jeju’s traditional past at Jeju Folk Village – with over 100 houses and facilities that were once actual residences, this attraction displays scenes of Jeju’s village from the 1890s. These villages were reconstructed following long-term research and analysis from Jeju history experts.
P.S. This is also the filming site of Daejanggeum (대장금 or 大長今), the historical drama series that took Asia by storm in 2013, so you’ll find a mini theme park inside the Folk Village with lots of photo ops!

13. Dive deep into Aqua Planet Jeju
Said to be the largest aquarium in Asia, Aqua Planet Jeju is the perfect place for families and couples to spend a quality afternoon marveling at the beautiful underwater world.
With approximately 48,000 animals and plants of around 500 species available for viewing, Aqua Planet Jeju is the place for you to learn about all kinds of mysterious marine creatures at the marine science experience hall.
There is also a large-scale aquatic performance centre, together with a supersized tank that recreates the coastal waters of Jeju Island. Don’t forget to say hi to the whale sharks – this aquarium was the first in South Korea to house this unique resident species!

14. Catch the Korean mermaids in action
Seoul may be (arguably) famous for K-pop celebs, but the true celebrities here on Jeju are the haenyeo – sea women who catch seafood for a living with only a knife while holding their breath – otherwise affectionately called Korean mermaids!
Once known as the bread-winners of Jeju Island, supporting both family and community with their trade, the haenyeo were also prized as Jeju’s secret revolutionaries. Schooled at night, the haenyeo were selected by a secret organisation to protect the island against the Japanese Occupation.
These days, the women continue to forage the deep ocean floors for abalone and shellfish to sell at the market, but what makes them a sight to marvel at is the fact that all of them are well over the age of 50 (!) but can still free dive down to about 20 meters for minutes, a feat that not even all experienced divers can achieve.
You can actually catch them in action at Seongsan Ilchulbong, but take note that this is not a staged performance – you are getting the rare opportunity to see them hard at work!

15. Kick back and relax at Woljeongri Beach
Although beaches may be better associated with the city of Busan, Jeju also boasts its own share of pristine beaches that are definitely worth visiting, the most famous of which is Woljeongri Beach.
Well known for its beautiful scenery, the white sands and emerald waters, Jeju Woljeongri Beach has a road filled with tea houses and coffee shops where you can sip on a refreshing cup while taking in the gorgeous views that earned the island the rightful title of ‘Hawaii of Korea’.

16. Have a good laugh at Jeju Love Land
Here’s a quirky attraction that you really wouldn’t want to bring your kids to: Jeju Love Land!
The name says it all: this is a themed sculpture park based on sensuality and eroticism, opened by twenty artists mainly from South Korea’s top art school (Hongik University) in 2004. It was the first such museum in South Korea, and some of the more explicit sculptures created a huge sensation at that time.
Over time, people came to accept this park and it has been turned into one of the top things to do in Jeju that many highly recommend – you’re guaranteed a good time laughing at how ridiculous some of these statues look, and they may even make for a funny photo op that you won’t get anywhere else!

17. Pedal around Jeju island with the family
If an ATV or horse riding is too exhilarating a way to explore Jeju, a family-friendly alternative is the rail bike.
At the Jeju Rail Park, you can rent a bike for the whole family and pedal down along the railway that goes around the vast green field of the island.
P.S. The bike is covered with a transparent hood, so you can enjoy riding it regardless of the weather condition!

18. Lose your breath at Jeongbang Waterfalls
Jeongbang Waterfall is one of Jeju’s top three waterfalls, and is the only waterfall in South Korea where water falls directly into the sea. At 23m high, there are two streams of waterfalls that fall down the black cliff to create a soothing gushing sound. Coupled with the steep cliffs and old pine trees, this is one of the most picturesque places in Jeju where you can marvel at nature’s creations.
Of course, such an amazing place comes with its own fair share of legends: a man named Seobul was said to have come to the island in search of an elixir plant on the orders of China’s Qin Shi Huangdi a long time ago. Unable to find the elixir plant, he headed west to return to China but was captivated by the site of Jeongbang Waterfalls, leading to him writing “Seobulgwacha’ (which means Seobul, passing by) on the cliff. These words have yet to be found in real life, but who knows – you may be the one to find them if they really do exist!

19. Indulge your inner fangirl at Play K-pop Museum (Closed)
A must-visit for K-pop fans is the Play-Kpop Museum, an interactive place with the most up-to-date music technology and K-pop hits.
You can watch a hologram concert featuring K-pop artistes like PSY and BIGBANG that really feels as though you are catching them live, then check out the special exhibitions filled with photo ops, a peek into K-pop history, as well as souvenir shops for you to bring home the latest K-pop merchandise and releases!
Unfortunately, this place is currently closed due to the pandemic, but perhaps it will open again when the situation in South Korea is better.

20. Have a cup of coffee at the cafe that used to be owned by G-Dragon
Need we say any more?
G-Dragon fans may already have this down in their itinerary as one of the top things to do in Jeju – a pilgrimage to the cafe that used to be operated by none other than the K-pop star himself!
Besides its star power, the cafe itself is also popular for its astounding views of the sea, which are absolutely spectacular when the sun sets.
However, take note that the cafe is really out of the way and it is quite a long drive along the coastline, so it’s not easily accessible by public transport – you may want to hire a personal driver or hail a taxi in order to get there.

21. Be one with nature at Gwangchigi Beach
Forget pristine white sand that stretches for miles. Gwangchigi Beach is unique for its black sand that you can dip your toes in – it looks especially stunning during low-tide! In the spring, you can even see the canola flowers brighten up the path with its yellow blossoms.
There are haenyeo (women divers) who do their daily dives here, so you can take a peep at them going about their day as you do horseback riding. There’s simply so much to do on this beach that it can be rather overwhelming, but we promise that it will be an invigorating experience you’ll dream of doing again for a very long time.

22. Walk in the depths of Manjang Cave
Up for some cave adventures? Manjang Cave is part of the longest lava tube system in the world, measuring 13,422 m in length, and attracts a horde of tourists who come to see the different kinds of lava rocks formed entirely by nature.
Although you don’t get to experience total darkness as in some cave systems, this cave is more than intriguing with the lava formations that remain and the expansiveness of the interior areas. You may also encounter some inhabitants of the cave such as bats – don’t freak out!

23. Ride in a gondola at Jeju Venice Land
Venice may be a little too far and out of budget for some of us, but here’s a tip: you can get the same water experience at Jeju!
Jeju’s “Venice Land, the City on Water” recreates the beauty of Venice on the Korean island, where you can ride in a gondola and experience Venice’s canals. You can also see important relics from around the world and the largest artificial forests and waterfalls in South Korea – truly a sight to behold.

24. Explore Udo Island in a submarine
Udo Island, located northeast of Seongsan, is the largest island in the area. Dubbed “cow island” because of its interesting shape, the island boasts stunning nature and attracts over a million visitors a year.
If you want to see the schools of fish, colourful seaweed, rare corals, and more but are not keen on diving or snorkelling, you can opt instead to go on a submarine tour where you get to explore Udo’s waters at different depths comfortably.

26. Soak in a hot spring surrounded by mountains
Hot springs are not just unique to Japan; South Korea also has its fair share of famous hot springs, and if you are looking for one in Jeju, Sanbangsan Hot Springs is the one to head to.
The first public hot spring in Jeju is surrounded by four mountains (Hallasan, Gunsan, Songaksan, and Dansan mountains), so you can soak in breathtaking views as your troubles melt away in the carbon spring water, which is known to have health benefits for the heart that stimulate and expand capillary vessels.

27. Visit the Dongbaek (Camellia) Forest
Camellias are extremely hardy flowers that make for a remarkable sight when they are in bloom together, and if you want to see this sight for yourself, head to Dongbaek Forest between March to May!
This wetland forest actually has a tragic past where many residents were killed in a natural disaster; however, it was later designated as a Global Geopark to preserve the nature that managed to bloom and prosper in the following years.

28. Heal yourself at Seogwipo Healing Forest
Many head to Jeju for wellness retreats simply because of how refreshingly clean the island is, and Seogwipo Healing Forest particularly stands out as one of the best and cleanest places for nature-lovers, making visiting it one of the top things to do in Jeju when you’re here.

We’re sure many of you love the adorable Kakao Friends characters and would love to bring them home if you could. Here’s something you may not know: Kakao Friends has released exclusive Ryan and Apeach merchandise that are available exclusively in Jeju!
The designs are inspired by various island specialties, including haenyeo (women divers), black pigs, and hallabong (a sweet variety of Mandarin orange that was named after Hallasan).
You can only find these merchandise at the Kakao Friends Store in Jeju, as well as at Jeju International Airport, which means that you won’t find it in any other South Korean city, so we highly recommend getting your hands on them while you’re on the island!

30. Spend a day at the Jeju Cocomong Eco Park
One of the top things to do in Jeju if you have kids is to spend a day at the Jeju Cocomong Eco Park, a family-friendly theme park with playgrounds and rides in natural landscapes.
Follow Cocomong, a beloved sausage-shaped monkey, and his friends as you try out all the different rides available and learn more about nature. The theme park is meant to educate children and develop them into leaders who think about the Earth and the environment no matter what they do, in a fun and entertaining manner.

32. Have fun at Pororo & Tayo Theme Park
