The pandemic has brought about more than a fair share of challenges for us, so no one can blame us for celebrating the upsides of it too: celebrity pregnancies!
The quarantine baby boom has proven to be all too true, as seen through the many pregnancy announcements made by both local and international celebrities on their social media (cue: Rihanna revealing her baby bump with pictures from her extraordinary street-style photoshoot).
Of course, we had to take inspiration from these celebs’ fashionable maternity wear – they’re just too good not to save to our archives. Here, we share our favourite styles as spotted on celebrities and where you can go to get your own collection of stylish maternity wear. You can consider these looks for your maternity shoot too!
Unbuttoned long jacket
Take it from Rihanna and show off your baby bump proudly with a long unbuttoned jacket. Rihanna announced that she was pregnant with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky’s child on social media.
She was wearing an unbuttoned long pink vintage coat from Chanel that revealed her bare baby bump, as well as a gold cross chain with colourful jewels by Christian Lacroix that rested just beneath the opening of her coat.
Fashionable but perhaps not something you might choose to wear on the streets of Singapore, you could still use an outfit like this for a maternity photoshoot in your third trimester. Pare it down by wearing a simple long jacket over a tube top and briefs, as you pose with your lifetime love.
When Denise Keller – you’ll probably recognise her as a Singaporean model and former VJ for MTV Asia – took to Instagram to announce that she was 18 weeks pregnant, she did so in an intricate flower-embroidered dress from Style Lease.
Who doesn’t love a beautiful floral pattern too? If you’re searching for something that’s just as elegant, go for a long maxi dress style that’ll brush delicately around your ankles. Or, you can keep it casual with a vibrant coloured, knee-length dress that you can wear for brunch at a café with your best girlfriends.
Shop: ASOS DESIGN Halterneck Floral and Sequin Mesh Maxi Dress (S$194.99), ASOS DESIGN Maternity Blouson Maxi Dress (S$157.99), PatPat Maternity Solid Dots and Bow Decor V-neck Short-sleeve Dress (S$32.35).
While she donned a floral fit to usher in her second trimester, Denise Keller wore an earthy-red, billowing off-shoulder dress from Nothing Fits But to welcome her third trimester of pregnancy. It’s as fashionable as maternity wear goes – with ruffled sleeves that begin only off the shoulders, you’ll be able to flaunt your sharp shoulders and just the right amount of skin.
Before Cheryl Wee gave birth to her third child on 23 October 2021 – what started off as a regular date night with her husband but then turned into the birthday of her little girl – she wowed us with so many gorgeous maternity looks.
One of our favourites, as seen on her Instagram, is a white pleated dress from Evee by Vania Justine’s capsule collection, inspired by the then soon-to-be mother of three herself. The dress has lovely puffed sleeves, a large collar, as well as intricate pleats that start above the belly and cascade downwards.
As the texture works well to highlight a baby bump, a pleated dress style is perfect maternity wear that you can don anywhere.

Front Knot Tie Top
Kylie Jenner revealed that she was pregnant with her second child with Travis Scott through a touching video posted on the ‘gram, then recently welcomed her baby into the world on 2 February 2022. And, since she’s the queen of style, who better to draw maternity wear inspiration than her?
She flaunted a super casual jeans and tied blouse outfit – a classic fit that could never go wrong on anyone. Time to get your blouses out and repurpose them for a relaxed jeans and white-top style, by just tying them in a knot at the front.
Otherwise, you can also go for cropped front knot tie tops that’ll flatter your chest whilst showing off your baby bump.
Since tied or cropped tops reveal your bare tummy, they’re also a great outfit for a maternity photoshoot. Take your cue from Kylie Jenner and wear a low V-neck, long-sleeved crop top with a pair of stretchy leggings, all in black, for an elegant black-and-white maternity shoot.
Jennifer Lawrence has just given birth to her first child with Cooke Maroney, according to public records reviewed by TMZ! Although there was much secrecy surrounding her pregnancy, one of the few pictures of Lawrence with her baby bump is this one of her in floral dungarees.
Comfortable yet fashionable, dungarees are a staple piece that you need in your maternity wardrobe. To style your pair of maternity dungarees in Singapore, you can pair them with a tank or cropped top for sweltering days, or with a fitting long-sleeved shirt on colder ones.
Slip on a pair of sneakers, and you’ll be ready for a day out!
