Following sold-out performances across Australia, the UK, Ireland, and North America, this theatrical adaptation of the beloved BAFTA and Emmy® award-winning children’s series has proven to be a must-see event.

The storyline of “Bluey’s Big Play” is wonderfully crafted to appeal to both children and adults. It explores the relationships between siblings and the importance of putting down the phone to spend quality time with your children. These themes are woven seamlessly into the narrative, offering valuable lessons in a fun and engaging way. Parents and kids alike can relate to the Heeler family’s adventures, making it a heartwarming experience for all.

One of the standout aspects of the show is its interactive segments, inviting the audience to join in helping to find something on stage or to copy the characters’ actions. These moments are designed to get the children excited and engaged with the performance. At the end of the play, large balls were also released to the audience to bounce them around, which certainly got the children (and adults!) excited. The joy and enthusiasm from the young audience members are palpable, adding an extra layer of magic to the show.

However, I felt that there could have been more of these interactive parts, as they truly enhance the overall experience and leave the children wanting more.

The production itself is a visual delight. Featuring brilliantly created puppets and iconic sets, the show brings the characters of Bluey, Bingo, Mum, and Dad to life in a way that fans have never seen before. The original story by creator Joe Brumm, combined with new music by Bluey composer Joff Bush, ensures that the stage show captures the essence of what makes the TV series so special.
