Hats for cats are a thing in Japan and here’s where pet owners can find them in Singapore

Fun fact: I have two rescue cats and they are the cutest little monsters with the biggest personalities in the house. One is a super talkative lap cat which will not hesitate for a second to meow until your ears come off when he’s hungry or wants love.

The other feline loves nothing more than to plop over my work desk and fall sound asleep on my mouse pad, and because I love her so much, I’d rather work around her than to wake her from her slumber.

As a responsible cat slave, cat-proofing the house (this is very important to all of you potential cat owners out there), shovelling poo in their litter box daily and still showering them with unconditional love are just part of my basic job description.

The other part – and I’m sure many pet owners would agree with me on this – is to buy all kinds of fun toys and cute accessories like sunnies, costumes and hats for them to play and wear!

From superhero costumes to baseball caps and bunny ears, there are really all kinds of accessories out there that money can buy.

But if you’re feeling a little inventive, consider learning this money-saving trick from the creative Japanese couple, cat photographer @rojiman and fur hat designer @umatan, who manages their famous cats’ Instagram profile on Instagram: making cat hats using their fur! Yes, you read that right – fur.

The couple, who has three adorable cats, Nya (which crossed the rainbow bridge in April this year), Maru and Mugi, first came up with what they call ‘fur loss hats’ after realising the insane amount of fur that their cats shed. They then decided to collect all the shed fur and made a variety of headgear for their cats to model.

Take a look at their artistic designs below!

Cat? Duck? Or rabbit? Who cares? They’re all adorable in our eyes!

Here, the super-creative couple took inspiration from the latest Pokémon film, Detective Pikachu.

Can you pull off the beret or the Donald Trump hairstyle as well as these two felines?
