7 July may seem like an ordinary date but for the chocolate fanatics out there, it is an extra special day for celebrating our most adored sweet treat.

Be it indulging guilt-free in some chocolate delights or cooking up new chocolate-filled recipes to share with your loved ones, there really is no hard and fast rule to celebrating World Chocolate Day (7 July).

But to give you some tempting inspirations, AVENUE ONE has handpicked some of the most stunning and decadent cakes the nation’s best patisseries and bakers have to offer.

So sit tight and dig in, because these treats are truly irresistible!

1. Janice Wong: Chocolate 76% Praline Caramel Cake

Of course, we’ve got to kick off our list of chocolate cakes with our famed pastry chef, Janice Wong. Living up to her reputation of crafting the most quirky and whimsical creations, this Chocolate 76% Praline Caramel Cake (from S$67.30) really takes the cake for the most avant-garde confection.

Featuring a gold chocolate praline nut and splattered gold paint on top of a mirror chocolate glaze, this cake looks like something straight out of a museum — except this one is deliciously edible. With chocolate praline mousse, caramel bavarois, salted caramel, and a hint of praline ganache, this chocolate dessert’s nutty flavours are sure to please praline lovers.

It is available on Janice Wong’s website and orders must be placed in advance. Island-wide delivery is available at a fee of S$10.70, or you can self-collect from the following stores: Janice Wong Paragon and Janice Wong Raffles City. Do note that the delivery service is not available on Sundays.

2. Tablescape: Sacher Torte Cake

We’ve featured Tablescape’s Chocolate Praline Cake before, and here’s another stunner that we absolutely love.

The Sacher Torte Cake (S$34.20/500g; S$52.20/1kg) is on our watch for its beautiful display of edible decorations on top of a unique rectangle cake. Using only premium fine dark chocolate, this seemingly indulgent dessert is nicely balanced out with the zingy sweetness of a housemade apricot jam as well as a light and fluffy chocolate sponge.

Pop over to Tablescape’s website to make your order two days in advance. Iland-wide delivery is chargeable at a flat fee of S$25, but you can opt for self-collection which currently gives you a 10% discount. Orders can be picked up from Tablescape, Grand Park City Hall from 11am to 5pm only.

3. Origin+Bloom: Black Symphony

Known for a slew of Instagram-worthy confections, it is no surprise that Origin+Bloom is on our list with its jaw-droppingly beautiful Black Symphony cake.

A rich dark chocolate pecan sponge paired with luscious salted caramel creameux, slathered with a dark chocolate glaze, and topped with a white chocolate feather, this cake offers an intense chocolate experience you are not going to forget.

The cake is priced at S$50 for  a small size that is good for six pax, S$80 for a medium that feeds 10, and S$140 for a large that can easily cater to 20 pax. While it might be slightly pricey, we can guarantee that this premium cake is worth every buck.

4. Ròa: Midnight Grand Chocolate Cake

Even if you have dietary restrictions, that doesn’t mean you should miss out on indulging in a decadent chocolate treat.

Ròa is the patisserie you can turn to for vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free desserts that are legitimately delicious. The Midnight Grand Chocolate Cake (S$68.80) is Ròa’s signature bake, landing on the taste buds of many including Hollywood celebrities like David Foster and Pia Toscano.

It consists of three incredibly smooth layers of dark chocolate sponge layered with a rich dark chocolate ganache and luxuriously decorated with edible gold flakes and Moroccan rosebuds. And the best part? The cake is amazingly light on calories so you can indulge in this guilt-free at any time of the week.

You can get this cake on Ròa’s website, with an affordable islandwide delivery fee of S$10 (excluding CBD areas, airport, or hotels). 5. Baker’s Brew: Flourless Chocolate Cake

If you’re looking for something a little fudgier in texture, Baker’s Brew’s Flourless Chocolate Cake may be up your alley.

Featuring layers of flourless dark chocolate sponge layered in between dark couverture chocolate mousse and crispy almond Florentine and coated with a shiny chocolate glaze, this dreamy gluten-free cake will satisfy any chocolate cravings you have. A 6″ serving of this decadent treat goes at S$58, 8″ at S$88, and 10″ at S$128.

You can get your hands on this fudgy goodness on the Baker’s Brew website. Delivery costs upwards of S$15 (depending on location) and wil be fullfilled between 10am and 8pm. 6. Lisse Cakes: Classic Chocolate

Nothing beats the classics, so why not try Lisse Cakes’ Classic Chocolate? Consisting of a moist chocolate cake sponge coated in their in-house chocolate ganache with bits of crunchy chocolate in between the layers, this cake is sure to please.

But unlike its name, its decorations are anything but simple. With dollops of meringue as well as refreshing blueberries and raspberries, these additions not only doll up the cake but also make a great flavour profile to offset the rich chocolate. The cake is priced at S$68 for 5″, S$78 for 7″, and S$108 for 11″.

7. Bloomsbury Bakers: Chocolate Fudge

Rich, moist, and decadent — there is nothing more you could ask for in Bloomsbury Bakers’ Chocolate Fudge cake.

With each bite of this decadent delight, sink your teeth into the 66% Valrhona chocolate ganache that unveils subtle almond and roasted coffee flavours for a slightly oaky finish. Its size ranges from 5″ to 12″, costing between S$48 and S$163.

Make your order on Bloombury Bakers’ website at least three days in advance. Delivery is priced at S$15 onwards based on location, or you could choose to self-collect at the physical store from 11am to 7pm on Tuesdays to Fridays, and 11am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

8. Zee & Elle: Valrhona Coffee Crunch Mousse Cake

Priding themselves on using only the purest ingredients and zero preservatives, you can be assured that each made-to-order cake by Zee & Elle is baked fresh to perfection.

While they feature many other chocolate treats, Zee & Elle’s Valrhona Coffee Crunch Mousse Cake (S$69) caught our attention with its infusion of coffee that makes for a killer dessert.

Featuring a soft chocolate sponge layered with hazelnut crunch, dark chocolate, and coffee mousse, and wrapped in a bittersweet chocolate ganache, this extra-rich chocolatey dessert is certainly to die for! Plus, its decorations are beautifully inspired by nature so it also makes for a sight to behold.

You can order it at least three days in advance on Zee & Elle’s website. Delivery is available from S$10 onwards, or you could self-collect from the studio between 10am and 5pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and 10am to 2pm on Sundays.
