46 romantic restaurants in Singapore to impress your Valentine’s date

For those who have a date this Valentine’s, one of the biggest problems you’ll face is finding a romantic restaurant in Singapore to dine at. Of course, you could always do with a meal at a hawker centre (like every other day), but most of us would surely be on the hunt for somewhere charming and unique to celebrate this special occasion.

Be it the most luxurious dining experience that both of you will never forget, or a hearty meal that’s easy on your wallet and guaranteed to please all palates, we compile 45 of the most romantic restaurants in Singapore that you can bring your date to this Valentine’s.

For those who love fine dining

1. The Summerhouse

This gorgeous getaway that gives off massive countryside vibes is tucked away in Seletar, so it requires a fair bit of travelling, but is definitely worth the effort. The Summerhouse boasts unique farm-to-table cuisine, where only the freshest ingredients sourced directly from select farms across the region.

You should definitely order the Moroccan Eggplant (made with stewed eggplant from Oh Farm), and enjoy the flavourful burst from a mix of garlic, tomato, chilli padi, and goat cheese.

But what makes this restaurant truly romantic, however, is the fact that you can enjoy your meal under the night sky in one of these garden domes! Doing so will set you back more than SGD300 for you and your date, but we say the beautiful experience is definitely worth it.

If both of you love culinary, you can’t miss out on this one. Restaurant Ibid is founded by Chef Woo Wai Leong, the first winner of the MasterChef Asia season. It has an open-concept shophouse setting where you can see what’s happening in the kitchen, so you and your date can bond over enthusiastic discussions of culinary adventures and share cooking tips.

The dishes here are inspired by Nanyang-style, contemporary Chinese cuisine. One dish that arguably embodies this the best is the Tea Egg Soubise, which inspiration is taken from the Chinese tea egg. You’ll definitely love the light broth that comprises Mandarin pu-erh and Gingko, topped with an organic egg yolk, shiitake mushrooms and gingko nuts.

Address: 18 North Canal Rd, Singapore 0488305

3. National Kitchen by Violet Oon

If you and your other half are tired of the same old French or Japanese fine dining, why not tuck into Peranakan cuisine at a restaurant opened by Singapore’s most notable expert?

Singaporean chef, restaurateur, and food writer Violet Oon has been specialising in authentic Peranakan dishes for so long that you can safely say she’s the go-to for possibly the best Nyonya fare in Singapore.

Here, you’ll find the classics such as Sambal Timun Nanas (pineapple and cucumber with chillies, onions, and rice vinegar), and Buah Keluak Ayam (stew of chicken and traditional buah keluak nuts). Even if Peranakan cuisine is not quite your thing, you’ll still enjoy other cultural favourites like the Eurasian Beef Brisket Semor and Hakka Abacus Beads.

Address: 1 St Andrew’s Rd, #02–01 National Gallery, Singapore 178957

4. Preludio

The concept behind Preludio is not intentionally romantic, but most people may agree that it is what they want love to be, to some degree: simple in form, unbounded by limits, exciting to experience, and absolutely not monotonous.

The fine-dining experience at this stylish restaurant changes according to executive chef Fernando Arévalo’s menu and is not defined by culinary boundaries, a concept he calls ‘Author’s Cuisine’. You may not be sure what’s on the menu, but you can definitely fall back on Arévalo’s culinary talent for a unique dining experience with the one you love.

Address: 182 Cecil St, #03-01/02 Frasers Tower, Singapore 069547

5. The White Rabbit

Evoke memories of childhood tales and talk a little about history with your date at this otherworldly location. Aptly named “The White Rabbit” after Alice In Wonderland, this romantic restaurant is housed in a restored old chapel from the 1930s era, complete with high beams and stained glass windows, through which sunlight peaks through for a naturally-lit environment.

Seared Bay Scallops is an appetiser topped with cauliflower puree, capers and pan jus, hence making it a small but impactful dish that any scallop lover would deeply appreciate.

Address: 39C Harding Road, Singapore 249541

6. Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora

Forget flowers and sunsets; dining with sea creatures is the kind of awe-inspiring experience you want your date to remember that day for, and there is no better place to do so than Resort World Sentosa’s S.E.A Aquarium

Naturally, a restaurant located in an aquarium would serve the most delectable seafood dishes. It specialises in Californian-Mediterranean seafood dishes prepared with natural ingredients and fresh local produce. Some signature dishes include the popular sous vide salmon (said to be the favourite of America’s first female Iron Chef, Cat Cora) and crispy skin barramundi.

8. Waku Ghin

Some call their meal here a fine dining pilgrimage, and for those who want to make that pilgrimage with their loved one, there’s no better day to do it than on Valentine’s Day. Offering what is possibly the most expensive meal in Singapore at SGD400, Waku Ghin has one Michelin star and many positive reviews to cement its reputation as one of the most luxurious restaurants in Singapore to dine at.

Waku Ghin serves a 10-course degustation menu at just two seatings per day. The Japanese restaurant’s signature dish, the Marinated Botan Shrimp with Sea Urchin and Oscietra Caviar, is said to be absolutely delicious. Every spoonful of the uni will melt in your mouth, creating a gastronomic experience that neither you or your date will ever forget.

9. NOKA

Doing your part for the environment together may not immediately sound like the most romantic Valentine’s Day activity, but here’s one way that you will definitely love: enjoying Japanese cuisine made from sustainable ingredients!

Marrying ingredients sourced responsibly from Singapore, Niigata, and around the region, while using top-notch Japanese cooking techniques, NOKA has been gaining quite a name for itself as the go-to for fine dining in Funan Mall.

Many customers have given rave reviews of the fantastic, quality ingredients used in each dish, as well as the top-notch service from waiters who really know about the origins and cooking methods of each dish served.

We’ve heard that the octopus tempura with black garlic mayonnaise is a must-try, so don’t forget to order two plates of that!

Don’t forget to look out for a breathtaking view of Singapore’s scenic landscape as well while you are busy admiring the stunning Murano crystal and silver free-form chandelier spanning the whole ceiling.

Food-wise, JAAN serves a British-inspired menu, made with the freshest ingredients to create simple but beautiful dishes. While you probably can’t go wrong with any dish from a restaurant that’s been awarded 1 Michelin star, you will surely appreciate the order of tastes (it is recommended that you eat linearly!) in Farmer’s Harvest with Hand Dived Scottish Scallop.

12. Odette

Throwback to a very special meal at @odetterestaurant ?Odette has pinched No.1 on Asia’s 50 Best restaurants list – after only opening in 2015. Cementing its place in the upper echelons of Singapore's saturated fine-dining scene, this modern French restaurant keeps people talking with its newly minted two Michelin stars. With former Jaan chef @chef_julien at the helm, menus are guided by the seasons and expertly crafted. The space is visually stunning, with a soft colour palette and floating aerial installation by local artist @dawn___ng . A truly sensational evening – it’s always a good time where the wine glass is bigger than your head ?✨ #Singapore #Odette #Michelinstarred #Luxurydining

One Michelin star is enough to turn heads, but two? Wow!

When you see the dishes that look like works of art themselves, it is little wonder that this is the perfect place to dine at after admiring art at the National Gallery. The light-coloured and tasteful décor will remind you of an art gallery as well – think comfortable lighting, white tablecloths, and aesthetically-pleasing food plating.

The Heirloom Beetroot variation, done and presented in three ways (salt-baked, Honeycomb and gelato forms) will convert even those who avoid beetroot into beetroot lovers. Don’t believe us? Check it out on Valentine’s Day yourself!

13. Iggy’s

View this post on Instagram

Today Singapore is full of exciting new fine dinning restaurants but let’s not forget restaurants that have withstood the test of time and laid the foundation that many (including Wild Rocket) have built upon. Way before many knew of the World’s 50 Best @iggys.sg was already flying the Singapore flag high in the list & putting us on the gourmet world map up there with El Bulli, Mugaritz & Fat Duck. Over the years when I ask some of my serious foodie friends (who refuse to follow trends) where they eat, invariably Iggy’s will be named. Happy to report my recent meals there have all been delightfully wonderful. And when you go, don’t forget to have the coconut & sesame dessert! (Ai ya why didn’t I think of that combi first?). Swipe left to see how cute the dessert is #iggyssg #singapore

A post shared by Willin Low (@willcookwilleat) on

Giving your date the best dining experience available in Singapore is definitely one way to express your love, right? Head to Iggy’s, a restaurant that has been repeatedly named among the best in Singapore.

It’s definitely not an exaggeration: Iggy’s is the first restaurant in Singapore to be on the coveted S. Pellegrino list, named as the best restaurant in Asia 3 times by the Miele Guide, and the only restaurant in Singapore to enter the Foodie Top 100 Restaurants.

Iggy’s food is hard to categorise, but it is precisely this trait that makes the cuisine unique. The dishes are based on its founder’s favourite food and combinations, incorporating inspirations from the Asian, European and Australian continents. We say this is also perfect for the date who can never decide on what type of food he or she wants to eat.

Be sure to join the foodies and order Iggy’s signature dish, the Cappellini with sakura ebi, konbu, and shellfish oil.

Address: 581 Orchard Rd, Level 3, Singapore 238883

14. Flutes

Impress your date with intellectual conversation at none other than Flutes, a refined restaurant nestled in Singapore’s oldest museum. You will love the relaxed atmosphere that has none of the pretentiousness associated with fine dining, making for one of the best environments for honest and sincere conversation.

The Pan Fried Foie Gras is one of the best examples of Flutes’ creative twists and surprises. It actually contains pineapple and chocolate: order this if you are up for a fresh take on the classic dish.

Address: 93 Stamford Road, Singapore 178897

15. Jin Fine Dining

If both of you love Japanese cuisine, one of the best restaurants to head to is Jin Fine Dining. You can choose to either dine in the open and bustling main seating area, or dine in one of the private rooms if you prefer a more intimate setting. Either way, you’ll definitely have a good time gushing over the exquisite and fresh Japanese cuisine served here.

The classic omakase (a type of meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef) is a great hit among diners here, but if that’s not your thing, you can order a la carte dishes, such as this Sashimi Platter.

Address: 76 Telok Ayer Street, Singapore 048464

16. The Halia

Halia was awarded its Halal certification in 2017, making this a great choice if you are looking for Halal dining options on Valentine’s Day. Bask in the unobstructed view of nature indoors if you prefer dining in an air-conditioned setting, or eat outdoors to fully immerse yourself in the greenery of the Botanic Garden.

While the main dishes are great, you definitely cannot skip desserts when you’re eating here. The Other Harbour is cake re-interpretation of mango sago with pomelo, a sweet way to end a likewise romantic dinner date.

The ambience of this establishment is also very welcoming, much like stepping into an Italian home, so you can pretend that you are in an Italian Airbnb with your loved one even if you can’t make it for a holiday to Italy.

You can’t avoid ordering pasta in an Italian restaurant, and we encourage you to order it here! Also check out their antipasti, including Prosciutto & Melone, the Bruschetta Miste, a mixed bruschetta platter, and the Mixed Mushroom sauteed with garlic and butter.

With its elegant yet chic setting in Sentosa, the Cliff offers an extensive selection of homemade pastas, starters, handmade desserts as well as gourmet pizzas – perfect for a classy dinner date that feels exactly like a getaway.

The Spaghetti ‘alla Chitarra’s boasts a springiness comparable to that of Chinese noodles, because compared to the traditional ratio of 10 eggs yolks per kilogram of flour, they use a whopping 24 whole eggs in this. Whew!

Don’t just buy flowers for your date on Valentine’s; opt to dine in a beautiful environment adorned with blooms right here at Pollen. Enjoy modern European fare with a Mediterranean twist here, with no compromise on the ingredients used. The herbs used in Pollen’s dishes are grown in the dome, so you know you’re eating the freshest produce possible.

For a flavourful kick in your meal, the Wagyu beef short rib with confit Portobello mushrooms, smoked onions, bone marrow and timut pepper gel would be the perfect choice.

Address: 18 Marina Gardens Drive, #01-09, Singapore 018953

22. Nox – Dine in the Dark

Forget Instagramming all your food; at NOX, you will get a unique experience of enjoying your dinner in a pitch-black dining room. What makes this even more special is that you will be guided and served by blind or visually impaired individuals who have been specially trained to offer guidance.

It becomes not only a romantic experience for you and your date, but also a good avenue to extend mutual trust and respect to these individuals.

Some sample dishes include Slow Braised Kobe Short Ribs with Tyme Infused Onion Jam, but you’ll only find out what you’re eating after your meal, so take the time to appreciate good food with your other senses!

Address: 269 Beach Road, Singapore 199546

23. The Black Swan

You may already know of The Black Swan for being the ideal place for dates and after-work catch-ups, and definitely for good reason.

Paying homage to New York’s canonised chophouses, the restaurant – situated in the Central Business District – serves premium steaks to suit different taste buds. In addition, the cuts are all carefully selected from farms that practice sustainable breeding and are free of antibiotics or other harmful additives.

The Stockyard Wagyu Ribeye will definitely make your wagyu-loving date (and you!) happy, but even if one of you is vegetarian, you won’t miss out on the steak goodness either with the Roasted Cauliflower steak, compete with black truffle shavings and maitake mushrooms.

24. Artemis Grill

https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/artemisgrill/

For a dining option that is close to your office (we know, work never stops, not even on Valentine’s), there’s nothing more convenient than Artemis Grill, which is located on the 40th floor of CapitaGreen in Raffles Place. The restaurant serves both a stunning view of the Marina Bay, together with Mediterranean-inspired cuisine that is made with fresh, organic and sustainable produce: a combination that is sure to create one truly memorable date.

We recommend the signature mains such as the grilled lobster with heirloom beetroots, the duck confit and the Dorper lamb rack – after all, it’s called Artemis Grill, right?

Address: 138 Market Street Rooftop #40-01, CapitaGreen, Singapore 048946

25. Les Amis

One of the earliest independent fine dining restaurants in Singapore, Les Amis is a 2-star Michelin restaurant that is bound to impress your date with its exquisite, Japanese take on classic French dishes.

Make dessert a priority when you dine here, because their offering is simply sinful. Break open the delicately thin shell of the Tropical Fruits dish to reveal an alphonso mango puree with coconut sorbet for a smooth, refreshing end to the meal, instead of a heavy feeling you get from eating chocolate desserts.

Address: 1 Scotts Road, #01-16 Shaw Centre, Singapore 228208

26. Tamarind Hill

Nature is one of the best settings to enjoy good food in, so head to the forested Labrador Nature Reserve to find Tamarind Hill Restaurant, which serves traditional and contemporary Siamese cuisine in a stand-alone historic colonial bungalow.

The extensive menu will cater even to the pickiest taste buds, so you don’t have to worry about that your date will not find a dish he or she likes on the menu. For an appetising start, have the Tamarind Hill Platter, a selection of fine Thai hor d’oeuvres that are a delightful mix of textures and tastes.

Address: 30 Labrador Villa Road, Singapore 119189

27. Song of India

There are so many reasons why you should give this a try this Valentine’s. For starters, it is the only Indian restaurant in Singapore to receive a Michelin star, which implies that the most delicious Indian cuisine in Singapore will be found right here.

Next, the restaurant is housed in a colonial-style bungalow just a stone’s throw from Orchard Road, a prime dining location that anyone would definitely appreciate. The interior is so elegant, you can feel like royalty dining here, even if it’s for just a day.

The menu offers plenty of familiar North Indian staples, plus a few more unusual dishes, such as the fish tikka made using barramundi.

Address: 33 Scotts Rd, Singapore 228226

28. Salt Grill & Sky Bar

Good, panoramic views? Check. Classy interior? Check. Delicious cuisine? Check.

This triple combo at Salt Grill & Sky Bar is sure to score you points with your date. Enjoy Australian classics here, such as the 21-Day Dry Aged O.P Ribeye To Share. It will definitely you back quite a fair bit, but it’s not everyday that you get to indulge like this, right?

What’s grilled meat without the heat? Meat is what they do best at this Australian-styled BBQ restaurant, thanks to its array of heavy-duty wood-fired ovens and grills. Get into the mood and choose to be seated at the counter opposite the kitchen, where you get the first whiff of the delicious aroma and warm hints of the heat.

Michelin recommends that you try the beef, marmalade, and pickles; don’t miss out either on the flank with burnt onion for an impactful flavour that you may find yourselves coming back for.

Address: 20 Teck Lim Road, Singapore 088391

30. Shinji by Kanesaka

Not all of us can make it to Japan to try Jiro, but we sure can have a great Japanese cuisine experience here in Shinji. Just a warning: you and your date may never be able to eat sushi from supermarkets again after eating at the best Japanese sushi restaurant in Singapore. Admire the awe-inspiring chefs at work, up-close, a special experience reserved, of course, for your special occasion.

The highest tier is the Omakase Shin which includes an appetiser, assorted premium sashimi, assorted cooked dishes, sushi, soup and Japanese fruit. It will set you back SGD450, but the high-quality food is well worth the price tag.

Address: 76 Bras Basah Road, Singapore 189558

31. Tippling Club

We are taught not to play with our food, but exceptions can be made when it comes to Tippling Club’s creations. Head Chef Ryan Clift pushes the limit with unusual, often downright weird combinations and some Instagram-worthy presentations, all of which will certainly make for a fun and delightful meal.

It is recommended that you order one of the tasting menus for the best romantic dining experience. The Classic Menu includes some truly exotic ingredients, such as Kangaroo with liquid onion rings.

Address: 38 Tanjong Pagar Rd, Singapore 088461

32. Alma by Juan Amador

Another Michelin-starred restaurant on the list, Alma serves Asian-influenced Modern–European cuisine that indulges and astonishes with evolutionary creations. For those who think that food portions in fine dining restaurants are always either too little or too much, you’ll be happy with the appropriate portions here as well – full, but not excessively so.

Customer service here is also impeccable, so you can be sure that any arrangement for special surprises will be well executed.

The ‘Muirgen’ Oyster is said to give an umami explosion in your mouth – now that’s something you definitely want to try!

Address: 22 Scotts Road, Singapore 228221

33. Candlenut Kitchen

If your date tells you that he or she has Peranakan food cravings, it is a hint for you to make a reservation at Candlenut Kitchen. This is the world’s first Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant which serves authentic Peranakan specialties with a modern twist.

Their menus may change with the seasons, but one thing’s for sure: all the dishes are bound to be delicious and absolutely satisfying!

You can’t go wrong with pasta, much less so at a restaurant that serves it at reasonable prices. Pasta Brava is an Italian restaurant that makes for a romantic date, not just for its food, but also with its bold interior and soft incandescent lights.

For those who want to try a different kind of pasta other than the usual aglio olio and bologne, Stracci Ai Gamberi E Capesante is your best choice. Made fresh and cooked in white wine, saffron cream sauce together with scallops, prawns and green peppercorn, this dish is sure to blow your mind.

Address: 11 Craig Road, Tanjong Pagar, Singapore 089671

36. L’Entrecote: The Steak and Fries Bistro

Duxton Hill is a top pick when it comes to finding a restaurant on Valentine’s. If you want a dining experience less marred by crowds and noise, check out the L’Entrecote, a bistro that specialises in, of course, steak and fries.

Get the Tajima Wagyu Ribeye MS8 Trimmed L’Entrecôte Steak, which comes with the legendary sauce, golden French fries and walnut green salad, for a truly satisfying meal at a price that won’t hurt your wallet.

Address: 36 Duxton Hill, Singapore 089614

37. Trapizza

Opt to spend a romantic evening in Bali – sorry, we mean Siloso Beach – by dining on the beach at Trapizza, instead of heading to the usual upscale options in the city.

Trapizza offers 18 varieties of wood-fired, handcrafted pizzas. These include Pizza Porcini with porcini mushrooms and Sicilian pork sausages to Pizza di Mare with toppings of prawns, mussels, crab and smoked salmon. It will set you back about SGD30 per person – definitely more affordable than a meal that costs more than SGD100.

Address: 10 Siloso Beach Walk, Singapore 098995

38. Les Bouchons (Club St)

Some of the best dinners are eaten at places that serve great food at decent prices, so we recommend this underrated French restaurant, which is said to serve one of the most affordable steak frites in Singapore.

The Grilled Rib Eye Steak With “Vigneron” Butter $39.80 comes with a huge bowl of mixed salad and free-flow homemade French Fries (yes, free-flow!) – no more stealing of fries from each other’s plate anymore!

Forget the usual cafe fare and opt for Spicy Shakshuka, which is chorizo, bacon, feta, wilted spinach, chickpeas & eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce with grilled turkish bread.

You don’t have to make a trip to Hong Kong to enjoy Cantonese fare, thanks to Canton Paradise. Indulge in all-day dim sum, roast meats, Hong Kong-style congee and wok-fried Cantonese dishes, and enjoy beautiful views of the waterfront when the sun sets.

If you feel overwhelmed by all these tasty dishes available, just remember that you should order the baked BBQ honey pork buns. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, this will be the best char siew bun you might have ever eaten, made better by the fact that you have your loved one next to you.

43. Firebake

Don’t be fooled by the fact that Firebake’s specialty is bread. No, it’s not your neighbourhood bakery; this restaurant actually has a full-scale woodfire bread oven, hand-built from 37 tonnes of 5000 bricks. Their bread is baked using traditional European methods, incorporating all-natural ingredients, flour milled onsite, filtered Nordaq fresh water. Whew!

All you need to do, however, is to relax with your date, and appreciate how food can still be made traditionally in a country that seeks efficiency and mechanisation.

Don’t forget to sample the Bread and Butter Pudding, made with a handed-down recipe from Chef’s family!

44. Birds of a Feather

Mention Sichuan cuisine, and imagines of Mala hotpot will appear.

You can now enjoy your spicy fare in a classy ambience, thanks to Birds of a Feather. It serves authentic and contemporary Sichuan cuisine, a dining experience only made better by the warm glow in the restaurant interior when sunlight peeks through.

If you are coming here for brunch instead of dinner (which you totally should, so that you get to better appreciate the natural lighting), the Bird’s Skillet is a colourful dish that should absolutely be on your table. Comprising spicy chorizo, bacon, roasted baby potato, camembert, cheddar, two eggs and pickled red chilli tomato sauce, its layers of flavours and textures are guaranteed to be memorable.

45. Amò

Pizza is probably the fastest way to anyone’s heart, so for a date whom you’re not sure what he or she will like, go the safe route and opt for delicious, comforting pizza.

The interior of the restaurant is a reference to its history of being a warehouse in the 1950s with the warm lighting and exposed brick walls – definitely an Instagram-worthy interior, if we may say so.

Not sure what pizzas to order? Take note of these names: Friarielli, Pancetta, Pumpkin, and Smoked Mozzarella & the Stracciatella, Prosciutto, Rucola, and Fig Vincotto.

46. Summerlong

For a restaurant located at Robertson Quay, this is probably the most affordable romantic restaurant option you’ll get. Summerlong is cosy, inviting, and a great place to watch the riverside from.

They specialise in Mediterranean dishes, so you can’t miss out on the Mediterranean Pork Ribs. These are served with a pomegranate glaze and dukkah crust (a nutty and crunchy spice mix), making for an adventurous dish to explore with your date.
